WTB: Honda CB400/550
Looking for a cheap 70's Honda CB400 or 550 four.... prefer something on the cheap, that I can fix up and make a somewhat presentable, reliable, cheap beater. Notice a theme here?
Would make a nice winter project.
If anyone knows someone that knows a guy...... thanks

I'll save Chris the trouble:

I got something along the lines of what you're looking for. It's not as old as you'd like, nor as small engine wise, but it is cheap. 1982 Honda CB750, $650 obo. If you think this is something you might be interested in, I'll get you some pics.

I could, although he might not be happy about that when he gets back.
We can get it running and kick it around between the two of us. Pretty sure reg/inspection is valid for a good amount of time.

To be honest I hadnt really noticed. Besides, I'm too broke to be a part of any fad

Your nice car, the serene green striped sofa, etc...

Like what? A new car? A nice house? I could buy a condo or a new car now. But for what? Am I going to go home and wax my BMW and polish the furniture in my house? Doesnt really sound like fun. Same reason I race, I ride bikes, I enjoy turning wrenches... I get enjoyment from my hobbies, not the material things I own.

The purpose of this thread is not really to flame you and air your laundry but at some point you gotta be serious about doing adult things with your money. I love blowing cash and buying toys just as much as anyone but there's probably a good 50 years between now and the "can't take it with you" period of your life. I'm a firm believer in enjoying one's life to the fullest extent but you shouldn't sacrifice retirement (or whatever else grown ups do with their money) for the sake of buying your fifth vehicle. Yes I know a 30 year old bike won't break the bank but it's a metaphor for spending everything and saving nothing. Life isn't about impressing chicks but you really think a girl is gonna want to be with someone who appears to blow every nickel rather than plan for the future?
