anyone who has a hondata look inside
hey guys
i have a 95 gsr with ITR cams, cam gears,skunk2 manifold i/h/e and i just got my hondata installed and tuned..i must say im not happy at all...
before the hondata i dynoed 165 WHP with 113 lbs torque.....
after my install and 3 hours of tuning the result was 167 with 111 lbs
i dont know about tuning but he told me that he got the best reslts out of my setup
i had to keep stock ignition timing because i run nos so i am aware that this makes a difference.....
my question to u guys is are these results typical or should i get better increases......i compared the graphs and they are identical....no difference..the tuner is known as the best around town and i have never heard a complaint about his work that is why this is so odd to me.....
thanks for the help hopefully u can suggest how i can put my new purchase to better use

which stage are you using?? 167hp is not that bad it seems a little low but....
i haven't seen any hondata setups on stock/near stock motors so i couldn't say what it should be, although the car's power should feel smother....

First of all you should compare SAE corrected numbers, actual numbers are
nice to see what you are making on that day at that time, but to compare
the numbers if they arent corrected then you may see a discrepency that
will skew your view.
That being said, couple of possibilities.
1. The stock ecu was doing a good job already, your mods are not significant
and the stock program may have been fine for what you had done. I personally
dont usually recommend the hondata unless there is a lot of engine work done
or large injectors are in play.
2. If you run nitrous, then you have the option to run less aggressive ignition
timing at high load levels in order to safely use the nitrous. This can come in
real handy as driving around with retarded timing and no nitrous sucks.
I think your numbers are about right, and once you modify the engine furthur than
the stock ecu can handle then you will see the true advantage of the hondata
system.
