Default From a Stop or From a Roll?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? I have never gone from a roll (intentionally) before, and wondering if it would more advantageous considering the setup I am running... Anyone?

90 CRX Si
B16a
S1 Tranny
I/H/E
Strut Bars
17" Enkei's with fresh tires on the front

I am still practicing my launches, as they do need work. If going from a roll, what would be some MPH to start at that would give me a good jump?

its advantage from a roll is that you wont get tire spin unless you have some kick *** power...... my friends always go from like 40 or 60 i think but they are in supra's and **** like that, never really seen the point for a honda to go from a roll...

idealy if your on a roll you want to hit 2nd at the start of your power curve. for me its 4K in 2nd which is aprox 40- 45 mph. my trans sucks and this is why i have to go that fast. i will get beat off the line till i hit 4K in 2nd gear. i usually eithe spin thu 1st or cant hit it till 2nd. my 2nd puts rpms down to 3K so i have to wait till 4K before i actually start to move anywhere. once i hit 4K tho its all over with this will al change if i ever put in the new trans... thanks again dustin
