Default Where to get monoball mounts for shocks?

I just picked up a new set of shocks and I need to buy the monoball mounts to complete the mounting of the shocks to a DC2 chassis. The monoballs need to have an 18mm ID.

Short of having these custom made, is there anyone out there that can recommend an existing manufacturer?

Tein makes spherical bearing top hats for many of their damper kits for the DC2 Integra. I don't know the diameter of the hole or even is they will sell them separately, but you could always ask. You can see an exploded view of their damper on the last page of this document: http://www.tein.com/ti/inst/8h48u.pdf They call them "Pillow Ball" which is just another name for spherical bearing. I have some on my NSX and they are very well made.

You could also try Ground Control and see what they have. I got AD dampers from them for my DC2 with no top hats at all, and I never asked if they had top hats with bearings. You will also need a top spring perch or upper seat if that is not part of the bearing mount or hat. Let us know what you find.

I guess I'm confusing things a little - I am looking for "Tein type" top hats. My quandry is that the spring hardware I currently have is 2.25" (perches), not metric like Tein. I could probably change this to 60mm hardware but then I'll need to find out from Tein if the spherical bearing can accomodate 18mm shaft.

I sent you a pm, check them if you have a pop up blocker. I can help you out im pretty sure.

The tein ones that i have seen don't really give any benifits of the what a spherical bearing mount is supposed to do.

I don't think that is correct. If you put a rubber bushing at the top of the damper shaft, the damper can move up and down and sideways as well. If you put a Tein style top hat with a spherical bearing, the damper shaft can no longer move up and down or sideways. It can only rotate, so there is a very definite benefit, as the damper forces are not transferred to the chassis via a soft rubber bushing.

You can get a further benefit by changing from the Tein style to one that has the top of the spring hat contact only the center of the spherical bearing. This has the added benefit of not putting torsion on the damper shaft and thus adding friction to the damper when it moves up and down.

But anytime you replace a rubber bushing with a sprecial bearing, the forces get transferred much more quickly and they are not reduced by the compression of the rubber.

Hehehe - I don't think rubber bushings will accomodate my 900 and 1,200 lb rates very well.

Not really an issue. Look at your typical H4 car.

I wish I could look at an H4 car, but I live in the Great White North Anyway, I'm waiting to hear back from a supplier but I'm not too hopeful. I might have to get these custom made.

Well, if you get the top hats specially made, then you have the link for the sphericals anyhow.
