Default Disassembling 3-piece wheels

I plan to disassemble my 3pc work wheels so they can be thoroughly painted and cleaned. Ive never done this nor have i ever seen anyone do it. I need some advice because im scared that i might destroy the rivets or its thread or integrity of my wheels or i might not be able to put them back together.

Any advise or tips from those who have done this?

Default Re: Disassembling 3-piece wheels (EG6R)

bring the wheels to your nearest tool store and test fit a few sockets.. the socket i used for my last 2 sets of works was either a 6 or 8 point one in 8mm and the other side(under the rims) used 12mm but just test them out first. my blitz used 8mm and 10mm underneath

for taking them apart just go in any pattern u like but to put them back together use a criss cross method.

make sure you use a torque wrench.

the torque specs depend on what size nuts you are tightening.

you can also use loctite if you wish to seal the bolts up before tightening them.

if the wheels are not modular(2piece barrels) then there is no need to seal them w/ silicone, etc.
