what makes up an EG or EK civic..how can i tell the differance....i have had many different answers to this question...will someone post the correct one..!!

They are chassy codes, I think EG and EK refer to hatchbacks considering I have a EJ (a 6th gen coupe).

I hate those letters by the way.

What do you mean makes up? Be a little more specific please...They are two different cars from two different generations of Civic body styles. One is the 92-95 Civic (EG), and the other is the 96-00 Civic (EK).

The EG is the 92-95 hatch &
The EK is the 96-00 hatch.

I think that's it!

 

Oh ****, be careful. Here it comes. Just to clarify, I think that the EG and EK chassis codes refer to the jdm models, and here in the states they have different codes. Be careful, there are some people who are very very touchy on this subject.

 

almost right. those code are refered to JDM civic(HB and 4 door), EG = 92-95, EK = 96 - 00
however, US uses different code.

 

Does anyone know and or us The actual US ones...

Cause I'd sure as hell like a stright anwser, seeing as I have a coupe and can't use cool 2 letter codes for my car

 

Yours my friend, would be an EJ...Go look on your VIN plate on your dash...

 

i have a 95 coupe and its a ej

 

European hatches are also designated EG for the 92-95 hatch, & EK for the 96-00 hatch. I own an EK3 civic

 

EJ6 hatch (97) here

 

Ha now I too can use too cool 2 letter abbriviations...

92-95 = EG some 95's made after june are probably marked EJ
96-00 civics = EK's aka EJ6's
