Default 90-93 accord - auto to manual swap

I have a 1991 accord EXR. It is currently automatic but a have a 5 speed for it and I am thinking about doing the swap. Anyone have any experience with this? Anything to look out for or anything I should be prepared for? Also do I need to swap the ecu? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

It should be pretty similar to the auto-to-5spd swap on a 5th gen (94-97) so this link should help you out.

How-To: Auto-to-5spd

I have a 5-speed out of a 92 accord EXR. Any idea how I could check to find out if it's an OBD1 or OBD2?

OBD1 is pre 92. OBD2 is 96 and newer. There is an older OBD0 that was something like pre 90 I think but I can't remember right now, doesn't affect you anyway.

As long as it's the stock tranny from that car it's OBD1. You could look at the tranny code and do a search to make sure though.

And if your asking because of that other persons reply, I wouldn't worry. To my knowledge there is no 5speed tcu nor does it matter if the tranny came from a OBD1 or OBD2 car. Trannies aren't OBD1 or OBD2 themselves. And I'm going to assume the last part of his reply was in referrence to the engine being vtec or non-vtec, the only thing that'll play a part in is the ecu you use. A tranny will go on either a vtec or non-vtec engine, doesn't matter.

So in short...
yes, change your ecu to a 5 speed version of the same ecu and remove the tcu. The tranny from the 92 EXR will be fine to use.
