LS/vtec idle issues
Quote:
The car doesn't start nicely when cold, it starts first time, but seems to not fire on all cylinders, if i blip the throttle too soon, it dies.
Takes about 7 seconds to idle normally. then when i blip the throttle the revs fall a little before climbing.
When the car is at running temp, it idles at about 1800RPM
If i blip the throttle the revs stick there for a while and only sloooowly decrease to 1800 again. Doesn't matter what i take it to.
When i am accelerating hard, the tac goes to about 6500 in 1st, pauses there and then carries on climbing (the car doesn't stop accelerating tho)
2nd the same thing happens, but at higher RPM.
WTF is the problem?
That was the original symptom list.
Now the car will idle at 2000, and then slowly climb to 3000rpm.
Now, i thought that this was because i ran the car on the highway, quite far... to stilfontein from JHB (160k highway drive, 120KPH), but it happens as soon as the car is warm
More often than not the car idles at 2000 and moves to 3000 slowly.
My car is a 180i, vtec head, vtec pistons, ARP bolts and a dicktator (replacement ECU). Thats it, stock exhaust, filter... everything.
ANY ideas would be useful
p.s. the vtec mods were done very recently... this issue is from the inception of the modifications.
