I'm trying to find the causes of what might have caused this. I was driving on the freeway and just merged onto the freeway. I was going about 45mph (i swear to god I was only going that fast) when all of a sudden (my friend descripes it the best as) it felt like a missle hit us! The car started to swerve, and thanks to my skills as a good driver i was able to make it off to the side of the freeway without hitting any cars. I was just trying to find out what may have happened, i know that i have a bad control arm, so i was thinking that might have caused it. Oh yeah, the bolt with the cotter pin was nowhere to be found when I pulled over and the wheel was facing sideways and the ball joint was pulled out of the transmission. -Whew- that was a lot to type

 

Which ball-joint was it? And what do you mean by "bad control arm"?

There was a recall on front-lower ball joints for some early 5th gen Preludes. I've been trying to get it done for the past 3 months - everything's on backorder.

 

that sucks...maybe vibration caused the nut to be loosened and without the cotter pin, the nut will just fall off....what year was the recall for?
