Default ls/vtec have u heard?...

Hello guys.. i'm working on an ls/vtec but i will be using it as a daily driver and want to hit the circuit tracks often..The question bugging me is i haven't heard of anybody with a semi built ls/vtec and consistant high revs with the motor not giving up on them..I don't want to have a pointless setup... i asked around locally and i was told that the motor will not last me because the constant abuse. My set up is simple and as follows: itr manifold, s2s2 cams, retainers, springs, itr pistons, b16 head, ls motor, arp head studs, walbro 255 fuel pump, rough estimate (12.5:1 comp..), and still working on tranny (sir b16, or itr)..I'm aiming for a 205 whp rough estimate or lil' higher..It will be daily driven and want to do plenty of road racing..I know this post should be elsewhere but just want to hear everyones opinion..I was told to just go with a stock b16 but i already have all the ls/vtec parts..don't want to switch everything..Have u guys heard of anyone runnig ls's on circuit's?..Just want to get more info about the motor...thanks..

I personally don't know anyone who has run a lsvtec on the circuit. How high are are you looking to rev?If you are going to be constantly revving past 7-8k I would say you should look into getting better rods.If built right and tuned right,I don't see why it shouldn't last.I know people that have lsvtecs that's lasted well over 50k,some with boost.I would just keep doing research and asking question before I did anything, just so you make sure you make the right choice.Good luck with whatever route you go.

For circuit you might be better off building on a gsr. You get the stock oil squirters and oil cooler.

9k...I'd do what unknown member says.I'd go for a gsr and build that,or even keep your b16 and build that.A good forum to check would be the road racing forum.See what the guys are running in there.Running lsvtec wouldn't be impossible, but if you want to be "safe" and rev to 9k,for the abuse your going to put the motor in...I'd go gsr or b16.I was thinking of getting in to road racing, and I was going to go b16.Its a cheaper motor, its smaller, and if something goes wrong you can find another block for fairly cheap.Just my opinions.

How many miles? Definitely get ARP rod bolts if not purchased already. My crew has an LSvtec setup is similar except for compression. We are looking to see the track alot also. Our crews car has a ls/vtec setup where the block is bored, honed, micropolished, balanced, clemite or clevite bearings along with ACL bearing on mains, shot peened rods, rod bolts, pistons, itr valvetrain, itr valves, ctr cams, vtec controller, golden eagle kit, chrome program and hoping to take it to 8500 on a regular basis This is our second lsvtec setup just because we wanted to upgrade and make more power. the power it made and makes now I found impressive especially when going up against gsrs with similar work if not more. I say basics to running a reliable ls/vtec is rods or get stock rods shot peened, rod bolts, head studs, balanced crank, pistons, golden eagle kit, valvetrain to withstand revs(springs, retainers, etc.), and last but not least a tune. I say 8200-8500 is safe on the setup just listed above, depending on miles, and parts installed you should be ok. Yes I know of an integra ls not ls/vtec that is a circuit car or should I say also a Auto-x car with close to 200,000 miles but takes it to about 7500 and its heart is still pumping and bone stock except for intake and exhaust.

thanks for the advice..well..i have made up my mind..becuase of my budget and the parts that are accessible to me i will definately go with the ls/vtec..the motor has roughly 140k miles..i will definately consider those rods...the car will give me good enough power, if anything it's more than i need..but i did talk to some people about the ls build and was told that i should be fine with the right setup..thanks for the help guys..i'll will keep u guys updated on my build and the outcomes..By the way if you guys would like to know the motor is going into an eg hatch..

I agree on the gsr block simply because the compression and more heat..the oil squirters help alot....However, for now i want to get the motor in and running...can't wait to run the car..The gsr block would be the smart thing for me to do but i just have to wait for more funds to come around..thanks...

just go with a simple build. ls/vtec w/ itr pistons, ctr cams, arp rod bolts, itr header, itr tranny, etc....
