Default Need Help, Car died on freeway

I was driving down the highway and the engine came to a strange noise and then the battery light came on. So i dropped it into neutral and pulled over. Jumping the battery didnt work. The next day i checked the battery and the battery fuse and they were fine.

Could it be my alternator or starter?

Any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you.

I would start with checking the alternator belt.
If it is in fact there, and tension is not too loose,
I would take it off, and have an Autozone or
other parts store test it. If you end up replacing
it, be sure to have your battery fully charged before
starting your car, or it could damage your new
alternator. And changing alternators on integ's
are not my kind of fun. Good Luck.

any weird symptoms while driving? radio, dash, clock turning off? alternator would be my first assumption. the starter wouldnt affect it if you were on the interstate already driving.

Basic info first:

car model, year, mileage, stock or modified, blah blah blah blah.....

Can't help you if we don't know the basics first.

If your battery is fine, check if you have spark. If you have spark, check if you have fuel.

It has happened to me several times, driving along and car dies. (manual) Jump or push start doesn't work.

1st time, ignition coil went bad. $60 part, auto part store carried TEC, which supplies was the same as the one i got from honda.

2nd time, rotor exploded. Didn't really die, but very bad idle, misfires.

3rd time, igniter went, this was more expensive, so i just replaced the distributor with a Distributor King unit. Ended up rebuilding the stock distributor with all new oem electronics because the BK unit had a gave me a c.e.l 9.

this is all on a 94 gsr. hope that helps you along.

if it doens't, use the search feature to learn how to check for spark and fuel.

symptons of a distributor. I'm surprise that your distributor lasted that long. Hondas/Acuras I've seen, their dizzy tend to expire around 120k-140k miles. Get a multimeter and check the distributor.

Now this is going to sound crazy, but my car did the same thing at almost the same mileage! My 94 GS-R at 226K miles, mostly all stock, back in the Spring, died while I was driving. I noticed that electrical accessories on the ACC key position would work (like radio) but nothing on the RUN position would work (windows, wipers, etc). Problem turned out to be a fried ignition switch harness. I had a new one overnighted from Len at Baranco for $60 shipped and had it up and running again the next day.

Does the car crank over at all? Mine did, it just wouldn't stay running. Also, my sunroof was open when this happened, and if I held the key in Start so that the engine was cranking, I was able to close the sunroof while the engine was cranking. It's all because of the way the ignition switch fried itself, I guess.

Ha ha...I had that happen to me!!!
But instead of leaving the car where it was, i just held the
key in the ON position (just before the crank position)
while driving (not easy in a man.), but i got it home!!
