Oil spittin out exhaust manifold?????
just finished puttin motor together, it's a b18a block with gsr head....2 quick questions...oil is spitting out of the exhaust manifold...could this be because i need to adjust the valves or what??? second...i got a vaccum leak and i'm not sure where, but when i fully cover the tb with my hand the motor stays running so it's a pretty decent size leak...how do i go about finding that the easiest way???any help would b greatly appreciated
any input...could it be bad valve seals, because i looked, and the intake manifold is covered in oil, and it's pooling in the throttle body
lol wow I think you have some oiling problems....are you sure you didnt just pour 3 gallons of oil in there....
bad valve seals could "possibly" be the cause of oil spitting out of the exhaust manifold....but that is a lot of oil.....check your pcv setup? is it routed correctly?
also are you sure that its oil coming out of the exhaust manifold and not unburnt gas? what ecu is in there?
the vac leak can be found by just spraying water out of a spray bottle.....

I ran into the same issue a few months ago. There could be several issues here.
If you just put this motor together, you may have a issue with the ringlands collapsing, causing oil to pass by. This can't be tested, you will need to pull the pistons completley out to look at. Also you may have an issue in the head, valve seals, valve guides, or a small crack in the head.
Is this leak only on the exhaust side? Have you looked at the intake side at all?

the leak is on the intake and exhaust side..oil is even comin out the throttle body....talked to the guy who did my machine work and he said the head was good upon inspection after he hot tanked it and he installed new valve seals.....he said even if i had no valve seals in it wouldn't smoke like that b/c race motors only smoke at start up and they don't use em....
he said it's probably due to the huge vaccum leak that i have...causing excess pressure in the head....it kinda makes sense but i dunno...not familiar with gsr intake mani's though, so i'm just gonna buy a blox or s2 to figure it out...tryed carb cleaner to check for vac leak w/ no luck...

well...i checked and realized that the pcv valve was bad..replaced it and some new spark plugs now there is no oil coming out of the intake side and it stopped smoking for the most part...just a lil tiny big a heavy throttle....because it is lsvtec, i think the main problem is coming from excessive cylinder head pressure....i am going to install an oil catch can with the tap into the exaust side of the valve cover...this should alleviate the problem there...w/ the vac leak, i was able to get the idle down to 1500, but it is still leaking bad....i just ordered an aebs intake manifold to get rid of that, as my car does not have all of the iab sensor crap and i think switching to a single stage setup will help b/c it is not in a gsr shell and i don't feel like molesting my wiring at all when there is an easier way... thanks for the help....honda-tech is the ****!!!
