a friend of mine deciding between three suspension brands , your experience is needed!
A friend of mine has a 90 crx si..
He wants to track it in the future and is asking me about what suspension to go with..
1. Tein RA's
2. Function F1
3. Koni yellow / Ground Control combo
im sure a lot of you have had one or more of these in your car , what would you choose?
I told him Tein RA's because you can overhaul the system for a rebuild.

I voted for Koni + Ground Control.
But something else to think about is Bilstein + Ground Control. The Bilstein is great right out of the box and he won't have to fool with adjustment. Moreover, the Bilsteins can take heavier springs than Koni Yellow can take.
If he does that, remember that the Ground Control have to be ordered specifically for Bilstein.

Since it is a choice, I am wondering about people's experiences with Form and Functions since they are what I am considering....
Koni Yellows
8kg in front
6kg in rear
very neutral, if he knows what he's doing.

Piece of China made shhhheeeit. Same with Omni, K2, Megan, etc, all those "24, 32, 12498 way adjustable" are pieces of ****. Shocks are usually **** quality, and the selling point is the adjustability and price. Im pretty sure that retailers costs on those are around $300. I used to be close with a few companies.
IMO, Tein is really high quality. Check out their factory and the process on how they make their products.

Do you know this for sure, like firsthand, or is it just hearsay... All the people I have spoken to, including a close personal friend, have nothing but good things to say about the F2's.

there is a lot of people who are just giving certain items praise because certain cars in the " honda scene " have them on.

You expect anything else?
I have heard nothing but good about them, and until I personally hear AND see otherwise, it is what is going on my car when I get the $$$.
Anyways, F&F v2 get my vote.

same goes for tein. i personally think tein is over-rated junk.
the cars i've driven with tein stuff on it felt weird even with adjusting the dampers. the valving dosn't seem to match the spring-rates that come with their setups.

Sorry for the massive pics, Im resizing now
I can vouch for the F2's. I never owned a car with a modified suspension before but I had ridden quite a few with the bouncy-ist ride I have ever expirenced. I knew I didn't want that at all. I had a budget and knew what I wanted. I made a few threads in the suspension fourm to get insight and obtained alot of knowledge.
I called Andy at BodyKitsNW and talked to him and told him what I wanted and what I didn't want.
They were amazing on a 8k/5k set-up. The car had camber kits all around and was corner weighted. Coupled with the bfg's that car was so soild. I had them for around 8months and sold the car. I still talk to the owner and he hasn't had a problem with them at all.
On the soft setting, you could tell it was aftermarket, but not bouncy and gave on the highway, but still was noticable in the turns. On the full hard setting, which is what I mostly left it on. The car had a not stock ride, but still hardly no bounce except for the interstate, but it handled corners like a dream.
I loved them.

i'm not trying to talk **** on you by any-means, but this being your first car with modified suspention, kinda says something. riding in, and driving cars with modified suspension are two completly worlds. also, what kind of driving did you do? i know reza likes to have fun in his car, and i'm sure his friend's do aswell, that being said, i don't think he's looking for opinions based upon city/freeway driving.

GC+KOni
Koni's have a lifetime warranty, can handle upwards of 500 lbs stock valved just fine, but you have the option of getting them shortened and revalved
Just because a car doesn't 3 wheel into your driveway because of the shortened body of the Teins, doesn't mean they suck
I've never had good luck with any Tein product either

My freind is running D2's and the car handles greatly. They have the option of custom spring rates and he is running some incredibly stiff setting that makes for a pretty intense ride. They are custom though so the stiffness is your choice. I believe he spent somewhere between 8 and 900 dollars shipped.
Koni/GC. Superior product and warranty. Also easier to service and modify spring rates.
