Fixing rear 1/4's w/ fiberglass?
i was going into bestbuy & some guy goes... hey honda guy... some indian hops out of his car & gives me a free estimate & what he would do... he said that he's going to remove my "cancer" & then remold the 1/4 w/ fiberglass & then spray it w/ priminer... all for about $300 has anyone heard of this? i mean i havn't exspecially w/ the 1/4's i just wanna know if anyone has & if they did, was it good/ hold up w/ time? the guy also says he could do it anywhere... like he said he would do it there in the parking lot & would take about 1-3 hours
Keep in mind fiberglass and bondo expand and contract at different rates than the steel body of your car. Temperature changes will cause cracks in the paint over time. Metal and careful welding is always the best filler for cancer.
You pretty much get what you pay for really. With rust you gotta remove all of it and replace the damage area with a repair panel or if it's really bad a new quarter panel. Masking it up with bondo and fiberglass will only cover the problem, ad it will rust right through in due time.
