Default DIY Two-Tone Type R Spoiler

Sand it down.
Primer & Filler - 2 Coats
Flat Black Spray Can - 2 Coats

Took 5 hours to do, but it was worth it.

Tape down, ready to get sanded.

After sanding and the 2 coats of primer.

After the 2 coats of flat black.

How to:
Buy car tape, sand paper, primer and the color you want to paint it.

Tape up the sides, to get the lining you want. I did it so the corners are sharp and gives it a 3 piece look.

Put garbage bags on the sides, 2 garbage bags to be safe.

Sand it down, I forgot what type of sand paper we used, I think, not sure, it's the 1000, 200 and 80.

Sand it properly so that it becomes smooth, one of those sand papers can make it super super smooth.

Wipe it off with a wet cloth, dry it.

Spray the first coat of primer. I used primer/filler.
Use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.
Spray the second coat of primer, use the heat gun on it once again.

Let it dry.

Spray the flat black, heat gun it.
And then spray the last layer of flat black, heat gun it.

Let it dry for 2-3 days in the sun. DO NOT put it on the car right away.

And that's it, you're done. Mine is going on my car on Monday.

All the time is spent on prepping the wing. (Just a heads up)

looks great man, can I ask a huge favor of you while your wing is off?

Can you please measure the width of the wing, in terms of mounting hardware.

IE: From left stud to right stud.

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy.

My wing is back on the car, is it ok if I measure the old wing? the oem one?

Why do you need the measurement any ways?

that looks pretty nice, although IMO it would look better if you had gone all the way to the edge of the fins

I have an unpainted replica one that I bought in 02 & never installed sitting in storage - I can measure for you tonight if you'd like.

the 2 tone is not really my thing but you really did a good job.

I like the "no" spoiler look of the rsx. so clean.

Yeah man, any oem RSX wing would do. Just out of curiosity mainly, a friend and I were discussing whether or not an Aspec rsx wing would fit on a civic trunk, but i don't really know anyone with an rsx, so I thought I'd ask.

Yeah it would fit on the Civic 2001+
I've seen it before, doesn't really look well to be honest with you, but it does fit.

By the way, I'll measure it and take pics for you tomorrow.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it, we were mainly talking about 96/00 Civics, I don't really see that much of a size difference between the two, so I'm guessing it would fit.
