One way to lower your ef...
I hopped in my rusty trusty 4g4d this morning. Started like a champ, and i let her warm up a little before moving. I went about ten feet in the driveway, then:
CLUNK the right rear drops.

ignore the hose clamp hanger. the rubber one snapped on the highway, and that's all I had in my car.

Perfect time to install my rear coilovers, since the lca has to come off. The bolts are siezed in the bushings...anything else I should dick around with while I am at it? Any affordable aftermarket lca's you'd reccommend?
also, any tricks for removing rusted lca bolts on a 198K wisconsin chassis..haha.

did the bolt snap, or what? i would say invest in some tokico's with skunk2's. thats what i have, its cheap and awesome. also i would recomend a exhaust hanger
they may look "hawt" but when your running low 12's a doubt anyone cares what kind of lca's you have. Save the extra money for a good shock/coil or spring combo. The 250.00 could be spent on something better.
driving on tires that are worn down to the belting is not safe man.... get new tires while your at it and an alignment too. and by the way getting the bushings out of the stock one is fairly easy to do. i built a press in 30 min and they popped right out

yeah I would get some fresh meat before anything. the tokico's with skunk2's or omni sleeve overs would be your best cheapest way to go. any exterior shots??

Oddly enough this happened right as I was leaving to go the the shop. I was going to swap wheels and tires, weld in more patch panels, finish fabbing the trunk floor and battery box, change the oil, and clean everything that's worth keeping clean.
Only the passenger rear tire shows cords. That is from the LCA dropping and scraping off the rubber... but yeah I know I am in serious need of an alignment. I'm sure I can find an exhaust hanger while I'm out there tomorrow, too.
The lca bushings are tapered, correct? You press from the back to pop them out?
Looks like I'll just powdercoat the stock lca's...I have 10lbs of mirror black powder, so I might as well use it.
jdm_ef3 here's my sig from another forum. Don't have many civic pics, it's mostly the supras.

Aftermarket LCA's are not retarted, you are.
Aftermarket LCA's provide you with brand new bushings and give you a space to put in a aftermarket sway bar.
Oh wait, it's like nothing of those matter either way..

his car is a daily driver. why waste money on aftermarket sway bars??? and you could just buy new bushings. a lot cheaper than wasting the money on new lca's. if you have money to "waste" than buy them. But the only real gain with aftermarket lca's if your not going to autocross or soemthing is having them look cool.

wow, i want some lca's for a 100$, i think that there really is no purpose to them (its a fact. lol) BUT i do like how they look.....only thing is i wouldnt pay 200$ for them, 100$ sounds nice though
how cute, I got the ghetto bucket of the year award. Sorry I don't like sticking tons of cash into a winter beater I picked up for $400 to begin with. If the car were worth fixing, it'd get the same treatment as my supras. The honda is only here to avoid driving my 11.6s stock turbo'd supra in half a foot of snow. Trust me, I don't need anyone telling me my honduh is a pile of junk. I know damn well it's a POS.
I was under the impression LCA's were around $100 and had a provision for a sway bar, so I asked for reccommendations on that. Any more and I would fire up the mill and make them myself using specs from a decent aftermarket unit.. I do autox with this car, for ***** and giggles...not competitively, since I have a full schedule racing the supra anyway.
here's the other bucket that eats all my cash, since I am working on a GM auto swap and a mid size single this winter....so I can have a low 10 sec ma70.

Nobody but the shop I had balance and blueprint the motor and me touched this car during its build stage. I did all the machining, welding, bracing, wiring, suspension, etc.
I dipped the 114K mi block and powdercoated it bright silver, .020 over coated toyota pistons, head and block deck lapped, shot peened and resized rods, polised crank, toyota rings seals and gaskets, clevite77 bearings, HKS stopper 1.6mm MHG 8.9:1 comp. ratio, p&p'ed head, 2jz-gte valves (1mm oversized compared to 7m valves), ferrea spring and retainers, I made a main girdle on the mill, shimmed toyota oil pump, chamfered oil passages, p&p'ed IN and EX mani's, all ARP hardware, dual filter relocation, made semi-solid mounts, ATP damper, toyota water pump, greddy timing belt (had one on the shelf...I couldn't find anyone stupid enough to buy it)
aeromotive afpr, and fuel damper removal
RC 550cc injectors, walbro, lexus v8 AFM
K&N intake, spearco FMIC, 2.5" al. charge pipes
TIG'ed up a DP from 321SS, blitz nur spec CB
al. 1pc. Jawsgear DS, 3.91 lsd
Shimmed trans accumulators, full line pressure mod
Stainless lines where necessary
brackets, mounts, containers, manifolds, covers, etc have all been powdercoated. I had 2 bags of powder: mirror black, and mirror chrome.
In closing....Trust me, if I wanted my winter beater to be in top notch condition, I could make it happen.
