Auto Trans for the Strip, any thoughts.
Currently have a 90 Integra hatch with auto trans, and keeping budget in mind while doing the build up for 1/8th mile drag only. What mods can be done to improve on the auto trans for improved racing performance. Is there stronger axles for this application or is custom going to be needed. Can the stock auto trans be beefed up to handle the added power that will be applied to the engine in the build up. This is to be a gradual build based on my wallet, with no current sponsors. Can new gearsets be purchased or will they have to be custom fab, and what would be a good gear set for this application.
End goal on this build up is to have a projected time on the 1/8th mile strip of around 5 seconds. I will be running a true 10.5 slick on front. I know I cannot get there without the trans being an important link in the process of the build. and since this topic is about the auto trans only, I will look elsewhere for engine, suspension, and body mods.
Please keep replies about the use of an Auto trans for drag, I will keep looking for posts on doing a swap to manual but this is not the nature of this post. And no Flame posts about 1/8th mile or flames on using an auto trans please, its not productive and not in the nature of the post.

The auto transmission can not support the power needed to run anything close to a 5 second 1/8th mile time. If I were you I would reconsider using a auto as it will just be a expensive waste of time and money.
dude i would just swap to manual its going to be alot better in the long run. a stock honda transmisson has enough problems holding together with the stock horsepower none to less ones you start adding more its going to be slip city.....and you really dont need a 10.5 inch tire.... manual parts can be scored pretty cheap tranny, pedal, master and slave cylinders, line, linkage and ecu can all be scored for under $1500 if you look hardenough
thats my 2 cents i have replace god know how many auto trannys when i worked for acura... and a honda rep told us there auto trans are very poorly designed
