Being serious, is that not too much? What could you possibly include that would go over 3-5 pages?

Introduction, lists of goals, lists of accomplishments, history in the sport, formal training, pictures, graphs, ect. 16 pages is not always needed but if you have been in the sport long enough to require that much space then more power to you. One thing sponsors do look for is a to the point proposal. If it's too large they won't take the time to read it and if it's too small they may not take you seriously.

That was kind of my point. It being that long, I thought it may affect the proposal in a negative way.

Passing around your proposal like its' candy isn't the best idea. It should only be shown to people who are serious about sponsoring you, and only at the appropriate time.
With professional drivers (NASCAR / IRL / Etc), the potential sponsor won't see a proposal until 3-4 meetings into the discussion, and it is done under a NDA (non disclosure agreement).

firstly i would consider not speaking like this weather it be on a public message forum or anywhere - who knows what/where/when/why the reps for the companies you may be interested in being sponsored by may be looking
if i were JE after seeing this post i wouldn't be "slinging" you anything
Sponsorship Proposals are pretty personal ventures, success is hard to come by with them regardless of how well they are put together and the ones that have nicely laid out and effective proposals will be hesitant to share those publicly with anyone

google "sponsorship proposal" and you will find several examples of what you are looking for. I dont know if you are gonna find a fill in the blank but you should be able to get the idea of what you need to do.
I will write you one but it will cost you more than that set of pistons will
The short proposal route for a quick read like all these sponsorship marketing books tell you to write are complete BS. Sponsorship marketing is a whole new ballgame now than what it was when those books were written. By the time you describe your demographic, your race program, and how you are going to make them money...you are far beyond a few pages. If you can't keep them interested beyond a few pages then sounds like you need some help writing a proposal. You can't just cold call one someone...you have to establish a relationship with them and then they WILL read your entire proposal.
How are YOU going to make JE Pistons money? That is what they are intersted in.

I agree with you.
I've put in countless hours into my proposal. You can look through google and find some information about it. It's not easy when you have to start from scratch but I did it.

Thanks, probably what I should have done in the first place. This isnt a race car, it is mostly a sema/ias/street car.

I guess its a good thing you arent the JE rep then, huh? Please, I have been in the business for many years, speak eloquently(when I need to), and represent my vendors/manufacturers extremely well. My aforementioned statement was to let the forum know I am not the next noob who is wondering how to just get some free parts.
Like I said, ive spoken to the rep, and he just needs something formal on paper. I have always built my cars out of pocket, and in this particular case, with a feature locked in, why not get a bone for a change. I have been netwroking with some of the bigger vendors out there, and believe me, its not my first day.
But hey, thanks....for nothing

ditto. my old one from back in the days was 12 pages long and like earl's was in full color along w/ pics was and professionally bounded together. it was broken into intro, bio, timeline, current sponsors, goals, vehicle mods, etc.
good luck and be persistant, but yet professional.

i'm bored and opened up my proposal (sighs brought back memories
) and forgot to mention...
put what u need from the company / or how they can help u and how u can help them, because remember its a "scratch my back and i'll scratch urs" thing. companies get a lot of proposals / calls everyday for people that want free ****...u need to make urself stand out from the rest and let them know u r responsible and trustworthy and professional. a lot companies have been burned for free **** and u want to prove that u are not gonna run off or never be heard from again once u get the goods. and once u do get the good, common courtesy... keep them updated w/ progress
again good luck

Yea, its like asking someone to hook you up with the same chick they are trying to hook up with...
This industry is very competitive both on the track and off, so I doubt you will get much help here...
