Honda theft.
Taken from another forum, I wrote this there. Not only you got to watch out for thieves but dealer employees too.
"I come in there for a transmission flush and hand the manager my keys with the jump drive attached. When my car is done he hands me the keys with no jump drive attached.
Then he bull****s that it must of fell off or I lost it. The freaking holder either has to be cut or taken out with a screwdriver. It can't be done with hands. So I told him even if the jumdrive somehow unattached from the holder and got lost then how come there is no holder?????
He then said that I basically accused him of stealing. Well he told me he had my keys the entire time, then who else would of taken it????
Anyway he basically told me to **** off after that. I waited for my parents for an hour and they raised a storm in there when my parents came in. The jump drive has my private info, resume stuff. So I started yelling identity theft. They offered to pay $30 for the jump drive. I told them to shove it, I wanted my jumpdrive back with all the personal info.
My parents bought 2 hondas from that dealer and I service mine there. We are going there no more. It's a good thing I took out my SG2. When I drove up they were scoping it out. I disconnected it and put it in my pocket.
The information on the jump drive was my school lessons, my resume, various pics of my car, and pics of my 2 year old cousin who died a very unfortunate death. The pics can't be replaced. **** their $30 and their stupid sorries and the "Honda employees don't steal". "
I want my **** back!!!!! I don't care about the $50 jump drive, it's the principal that matters. Plus what am I going to tell the parents of my cousin??? "I want some more pics because the honda dealer stole mine." ?????????????????
I'll be giving Honda a call on monday and filing a complaint with BBB.

YOu mean you had pix of your 2 year old cousin...that you look at regularly (bullshit)....and you don't have hardcopies/backups on your hardrive someplace?
I have a hard time believing that.
I mean, if you think about it, it's basically entirely your own ******* fault. Why the hell did you hand them your entire key chain? Give them ONE key...the one that says "Honda" on it. You were stupid and they took advantage of you, simple as that.
Then you proove that you're dumber than you sound by yelling identity theft when I can almost guarantee you the employee didn't want it to take your ******* identity but more so looked at it as a free flash drive. Get a life man, and with that hopefully a brain will come.

I'll steal your car and I'll see how you like it.
It's my fault that my **** got stolen? What's next it's my fault that I get robbed because I was walking by myself at 7pm. You're like my other cousin. You could shoot the dude in the foot and say you're sorry and he'll let the **** slide.

Your fault for not preventing it. Just like walking by yourself at 7pm in a bad part of town is asking to get robbed. Youre not wanting to get robbed, but its your fault for walking by yourself. In the end, you could have taken measures to prevent it.
Give them just the key. With your parents personal information and if you have a house key on the same key chain, he now has a free copy of your house key. Thats just stupid to give them a whole keychain.

Please let him come and rob my house. What's he going to take???? A computer and some clothes.
He was showing off how many people give their whole key chains. He was like look how many keys this one has. It's a matter of time till the **** hits the fan for him.
That is how you guys get your civics jacked. While they are performing some stuff on your car they make a duplicate key. They already have your address from their computers. They go for the big score, the car.

hes got every right to raise a **** storm...i'd feel better if i brought my car in for service and paid and found out they didnt perform said service, but instead j/o'd for an hour (but not in my car
)
look at it this way...if the guy at the dealer does it more than once...then his dealership gets more than 1 complaint about him, and then it cant be coincidence..and he gets fucked

I bet I would think they would. I dont care how good of a reputation something has, people are still there. You wouldnt think church members would steal from a collection plate, but it happens. That is why shops get my spare key and the reason I do everything that I can do on my own. And the people that I do send my car to are usually people I know.

WOW... someone got smart... lol.. norm reeves... how about norm theeves...
my friend worked at norm reeves in temecula cali.. he told me that nice si's would come in or a nice hatchie or something and one of the techs that worked there would copy the key and get all the info on the car i.e. address name whatever all on the registration card in the glove box...
after the 4th car that guy got caught and is serving 2 years for fraud and gta..
still 4 cars until they caught him...
I NEVER EVER GIVE OUT ANY OF MY REAL INFO if anyone else but me works on my car.. like tire shops ask for you address or whatever.. i just give them one of my family members address and i always carry my reg/insurance in my wallet....
giving your key to anyone is stupid enough.. leaving all your info on where the car is located is just ******* retarted
stealerships.. i mean dealerships suck ***... every dealership has a theif in it

About 8 years ago a white girl decided to go for a walk in harlem, now 8 years ago harlem was a really fucked up place. So she decided to go for her midnight walk and obviously never came back, got raped and killed. It's still controversey weather she was trying to commit suicide or not.
On the count that she wasn't....was she asking to get raped and killed? Sure as expletive was. Did she want it? Hell no.
I mean you're just gonna have to accept the way the world is and that it's full of sick people, and that you can't just give your keys to the guy on the corner and expect him to hold onto them, we just don't have those morals...if you think the world has morals then you have a rude ******* awakening.

I know.Back at OP:
Yo man, does it suck? Yes. Do you have to move on? Yes. Is your court case suing them going to get ANYWHERE in court on the basis of identity theft? Absolutely NOT. All your evidence is circumstancial not to mention theoretical, you can't prove it was there before. You also can't prove that they took it.
So yeah it sucks, DEAL WITH IT. There's an old saying, "live and learn" - it sounds like just now you're finding out that the world's not a moral and truthful place...we were all kinda hoping you picked this up when we were bombing the **** outta brown people for the last 100 years. The world's a sick ******* place, and the guy that was working on your car saw a free ******* flash drive - and he took it. Easy steal, obviously a lot easier and cheaper than buying your own. Is it morally fucked up? Yeah, are some people morally fucked up? Yeah.
I realize where you're coming from, I've had pple at a dealership steal **** outta my car...now I clean my car out before bringing it to a dealership and when I get the tires changed I WATCH THEM, I WATCH THEM get into the car, I WATCH THEM pull into the garage, i WATCH THEM do the work (that also has its other advantages like one time when a shop changed my oil he didn't change the filter...I watched him not change and he tried to tell me he changed it. Obviously I got his manager and I got the oil for the change for free (everything was free) and he had somebody put on an oil filter (and the guy got fired)....so you WATCH THEM every step of the way until they get out of your car and lock it up. Why do I do that? I've had **** stolen from me outta my car at a tire changing place, which leads to another saying: "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." You got fooled once...so don't let it happen again.
You sure as FUC K aren't going to win your case of identity theft I don't care what lawyer you have, you just have NO evidence. So what can you do? Absolutely NOTHING. You have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on going. Trust me, the dumb worker that stole it had no intention of stealing your identity, he probably even wiped it clean, he only had it just to have it...storage space, he doesn't want your identity, he wants a gig of transferable flash memory.
So you got fucked, now you know, make sure there's no personal **** in your car. It's like leaving your wallet in your car....In a perfect world would people with morals not take it? Sure. In reality, would that wallet be there when you came back? 90% of the time: No.
Now that it's happened, regardless of how good your lawyer is you aren't going to get anywhere in court because you can't prove anything and that's just how the great American judicial system works -- move on and don't let it happen again.
