How much should I sell my 98 CW ITR for?
Hey guys, I am looking for some advice on how much i should sell my ITR for. I bought it right before i moved out to TN. I've had an epiphany and I am selling it to go back to school to get into the medical field. Here's the details. the car has 158k miles, body is in great shape, has JDM ITR suspension , JDM Header, has a small oil pan leak, drives awesome, pulls hard... small scratch on passenger door. other than that i dont think there is anything else wrong with it. this is #98-1069. carfax is clean. i've only had this car for 4 months, the previous owner told me there was some headwork on the car. port/polish and some mild cams/ valve springs. So, with all that taken into account, How much do you guys think it should sell for? Thanks for any help

Yes, it's really tough to say. When a car is similar to a lot of other cars - e.g. a pristine ITR with 30K miles, or a not-so-pristine ITR with 100K miles - it's easier to estimate a value, because you can see what other, similar cars sell for. I haven't heard of other cars with mileage that high changing hands, so there's nothing to compare against (what they call "comps" in real estate).
Since a not-so-pristine ITR with 100K miles might sell for $12K, this would probably sell for less than that. Does that mean $9K, or does it mean $11K? Like pennies says, tough to say. I would probably put it in an ad for "$10,999 obo" and try to go no lower than $10,000-10,500 at least initially, then consider going lower if it hasn't sold by New Year's. (Don't let tirekickers talk you into a lowball offer like $8K.)

it really hard to say for the price, any where from 8k to 10.k is worth is, you are selling at a really hard time as well, Good luck though
couldnt agree more with nsxtasy. try posting it or putting it up for sale and see what kind of feedback you get. you could always start by doing that and go from there. good luck with the sale.

Keep in mind that we all own a very specific car, which "someone" is almost always looking for. That "someone" may or may not know what an ITR will bring given the circumstances of the vehicle.
To this day you see ITRs being sold from $20K to $10K. Either way the resale value has held its own on the open market very very well.
IMO with the mods listed, mileage etc.... i would start your asking price at $12K and be willing to come down with your own comfort level.
The great thing about the ITR is that no matter the condition, there is almost always that "someone" looking for your car. Not everybody has the same intentions when buying the car.
Some will track it, some will "race" it, some will restore it, some will daily drive it. You simply never know what the group of buyers who are in the market for an R are looking to do with it.
Best of luck with your sale, but be patient and firm! Do not let someone steal your car because you are getting tired of the waiting period. You will find a buyer

If I were personally looking at it, I would only offer $8-9k. Mainly because I'd have no idea how it was treated for the 158k miles.
Did you do a leakdown when you bought it? I'm guessing a rebuild is in the near future.

I could see you getting around $10k. Clean title, carfax, nice body (few exceptions), etc. The only killer is the mileage.
Good luck...
