I have one sitting around from my old DX, and was going to put it on my new CX - and mid install it occured to me it may not fit, as specifically on the instructions it states si/dx etc only (no vx/cx)

Anyone with experience know before I go any further?

 

it will work. trust me

 

The coupler is too large for the throttle body. You can crank down the worm clamp or rig it to work if you really want.

 

but the pipe itself will work no problem? I didnt want to remove the transmission mount just to find out it wouldnt fit. As is, doesnt look like it at all, but how different could it really be..

I don't care about reworking the coupler alittle bit. I'm just concerned with the piece physically fitting there.

WHY would you remove the tranny mount to install a cold air intake???

it's what the directions say, wtf do I know. Look it up online I guess. I imagine that the stock tranny mount is wider then the one AEM supplies, and the AEM one (Which I believe replaces it) allows the the CAI to be tucked down.

 

You remove the torque mount that's bolted to the tranny...
This is because the stock one is too fat for the CAI pipe to clear. It would rub...
So there is a new, slim bracket included in the kit.

All D-series engines have a 56mm throttle body, so it will bolt up without a problem.
It even clamps up to my 60mm tb, allthough it's on alot tighter.

Not all D-series...the CX and VX are 40 mm...

 

he is correct from what i can see. my VX stock intake piping is roughly 1 1/2 inches big. wish i didn't break my digital camera. i could take a picture of how small the sob is.

 

That might be. We have different models here in Europe...
I know the funky D16Y7 has a throttlebody pointing upwards.
I don't know how the VEi (EDM model with D15Z1) throttle body is, but I thought it was 56mm aswell.

If you say the CX/VX throttle body is 40mm, I just have to believe you...

 

Ok, so the throttle body is way too small. I tried tightening the worm clamp all the way and it wont tigthen anymore. What are my options at this point (FYI: The rest of the intake fits no problem)

 

Buy some kind of rubber hose from Home Depot or wherever whose inner diameter matches your outer diamter of your throttlebody, 40mm I guess? And just make sure that the outer diameter of the new rubber hose will fit inside your intake tubing. Then, just cut the hose short enough to just fit over the throttlebody, so it doesn't hang off at all, and you should be good to go. That's would I would try at least... any other ideas?

Modifying either of those motors is COMPLETE waste of time. First of all, the CX motor only has 8 valves, so there is NO WAY to cram any more air into it. Second, the VX motor is designed to run lean for better fuel economy. Altering the intake is just going to mess up you mpg...

Get a new motor or sell the AEM intake...
