This is my set up: LS block w/ US Type R pistons (oversized), shotpeened rods (balanced). GSR head: mild port, type R valvesprings/retainers, CTR cams (intake & exhaust), Skunk2 intake, Skunk2 camgears, BBK 70mm intake, AEM CAI, JDM 4-1 header, HKS exhaust with catalytic, lightened flywheel...about 11.0 compression total. Whaddayaallthink? See the referree or just pay the price?
if it is all usdm, then you should be ok...
if you take it to some shop, the may just go with it, but becareful not to take it to a gold shield place, cause they will red flag you and make you take it to a ref....

you sure? the only JDM on it is the header...I can easily replace with a Us Type R cast manifold before the referree...except with the high compression due to slight porting and maybe replace the stock intake throttle body should do the trick...Any more comments?
Nah mang
When you go to the ref, it has to be COMPLETE engine with ORIGINAL head
i'm not sure if many ref's out there would know the diff, but we've seen LSV's pass before.
Let us know how it turns out though!

i dont think you can slip that thing past a ref...i just went to one last week...man i thought i could slip the B18C past em but they noticed it wasnt a B18C1...they busted out with a chart of hella different b-series motors and new exactly what car they were from in japan...i was like F*CK!...they have all diagrams and pictures on a CD-ROM...and they compare motors with the pictures to the very last detail...you can try grinding off the "VTEC" lettering on the valve cover and trying to pass it off as a LS...make sure your ecu is the correct ecu and year for the motor you stated...they will get yah for after market parts such as B&M FPR(they got me for that one)...make sure your idle is between 700-800RPM and your timing is correct...make sure your not throwing any codes and if you got a chiped ecu you might wanna go find a stock one cuz i think thay check the ECU too...the screws on my ecu where loose after the test and i know i didnt do it...
oh yea get a heatsheild for the header so they cant tell

Thanks a lot...I have a stock US type R cast iron exhaust header that I want to install before I see the referree but I just had my catalytic's flange enlarged to fit the JDM header...I guess the shield's the next best thing...unless I can find another cat. Or since I'm still on an all stock LS right now, I can get it inspected and get the stamp. Then drop my other motor in a couple of months. Huh...I just don't get it. If your engines' running clean, why the hell won't it pass. Which ref did you go anyway? I'm thinking of going to a remote area like Pittsburg or Fairfield...But then again, there are a few speedshops between Concord and Sacto...
