Preparing a DOHC ZC for boost?
looking for advice on what i should do to make sure the engine is fit for up to 10 psi. i know this can be done quite easily on a totally standard engine with turboedit or something like that and 450's.
the engine has 111k miles, when i got the car it had no owners manual, no service history, literally nothing but the car and the owners certificate (and 110k miles).
it seems to run just fine bar a darth vader like noise when changing gear sometimes but thats just the clutch release bearing and will be replaced whenever i get around to fitting a new clutch.
anyway... what should i check before going turbo? it wont be anytime soon but i just want to get my facts straight beforehand plus im doing a bit of servicing anyway right now. i have a new timing belt to go on it. the head gasket seems fine (no drips down the block), it doesnt get overly hot or anything. im thinking an oil change to an ever so slightly thicker weight along with changing the oil filter should do? is there anything else that would be a good idea before going turbo? possibly fit a new headgasket and ARP head bolts? also considering ARP rod bolts if they can be fitted easy enough... maybe by just removing the oil pan and doing it from under the car?
the only thing i can see being a possible issue (and im not even sure it is) is a little white smoke from the exhaust. nothing more than your usual cold weather smoke tho as far as im aware...
