blinking oil light
I have a 97 LS integra automatic..pretty much stock...I left it this way but only cosmetics done.I just drove it today and the oil light came on blinking. I checked the oil and is fine, looked around and found no oil spots. When it is in drive, the oil light comes on, and when it is in drive it goes away. I have searched and found that it may be due to oil pressure sending unit, relieve the oil valve, or maybe tired engine. The problem is that it only has 82k on it and has been well maintained. My question is where is the relief oil valve located?
Your cheapest solution would be to install an oil pressure gauge and not rely on the idiot light. My oil light was coming on, and since I had 250K miles at the time, everyone said that I needed a rebuild. Instead, I bought a $25 oil pressure gauge, installed it, and observed perfect oil pressure. My ICU is giving false oil pressure warnings. I now have over 300K miles, and I love the look of an oil pressure gauge in the car anyway. They should come standard on any car, considering the oil is the life's blood of your engine.
funny stuff..i will probably check the oil pressure..my mechanic says check pressure first..but could be many things...hopefully does not need major work..thanks
