This is about as vague as possible.

First off, there's three generations that cover your time frame which I'm going to list. 92-95, 96-98, and 99/00.

What motor would we recommend getting? Wouldn't you say that's your choice in every way, shape, and form? It's your project car. Though I suppose if you really want an answer you should tell people what kind of application it is...an autocross car, drag, daily driver, weekend driver, what?

Good places to get it tuned?
Here's the tuner directory, scroll down, states are in alphabetical order, find whatever's closest to you, tuning shops are only important for certain circumstances...which are based on what the application of your car is...which you haven't told us yet.

Basically it comes down to this, if you want help with ideas for starting a project, you have to tell us what it is, what you want, what the application is, etc. From there people can give you better help, throw recommendations at you, etc.

the vx motor and cx motors in 92-95 civics makes a great swap. If this is your first car however i would recomend against it, due to it being a little fast for the inexperienced driver...
all kidding aside what are you lookn for? dd? race? reliablilty a concern?

Yeah, nothing says "torque and *****" like a D15Z1.

Haha.

I realize that you're just joking around and there's no way in hell you're serious but it really was a failed attempt at humor.
