95 accord LX problem..im stumped
ok i have a CD5 and its been acting up. It started one day when i was on the freeway on ramp i was doing like 40-45 and all of a sudden it felt like i had lost a cylinder. It felt like i wasnt getting spark or fuel, as if i was going up a very steap hill. the problem happens once in a while and varies in speeds it does it when ever it wants. So i decided to get oem spark plus, wires, and a oem fuel filter. also i had oil in the spark plugs so i decided to change the rocker seals. everything was good after i drove it but the next day (today) it started to act up again. can anyone help me out? btw there is no engine light on
you started with the right thing checking your spark plug wires, if still no fix after that my 95 accord starting doing the same thing and it was my egr ports- i know that most obd1 accords 92-95 except 95 v6 which has obd2 will not throw a code or check engine light for egr ports-it may for egr valve( insufficent lift). cleaning these ports out are not a big hassel and can be done with basic hand tools. Find a haynes book and it will tell you how to.--- by the way you still may have a temp. code in the ecu and the check engine light NOT on. If you have any buddies that work at a shop or dealership they can hook the obd2 scanner w/ the obd1 hookup and find any temp. codes. this may help. goodluck!
Sorry to highjack but I currently have a similar problem. My 95 LX seems to miss/hesitate at idle when the engine is up to temp. and during half throttle or more acceleration. Check engine light has not come on. I have given it a complete tune up and a valve lash and still the problem persists. The misses/hesitation are more prominent when the engine is warm. Also it does not seem to be a problem at higher RPMs. Mostly a problem at less than 2000 RPM. Could the EGR or EGR ports be the problem?
I would like to clean the EGR ports but I dont think my old Haynes manual states how to. Do you take off the EGR and then start drilling the ports? Do you need to take the head off?

OK, did some Google-ing and came up with this very nice tutorial:

Looks like on 94+ Accords no drilling is necessary.
One last question, Would clogged EGR ports cause a rough idle?

After taking off the fuel rail/injectors there are 5 bolts that secure the cover. Romove those and you will have access to the ports. I did this... cleaned the ports and the track inside the cover and it did NOT solve the problem. I also checked out the EGR valve and selenoid for connectivity and function with some other tests and everything checked ok. Damn it ..... time for a new Accord.
I actually cleaned the egr ports this past weekend. I used this website as a tutorial, it only took about an hour and 45 mins. Gosh you should have seen the egr ports and the track. I might as well have had an egr plate on the engine.
