Default Adjusting coilovers

Installed my omni power coilovers and am trying to get the ride heighth set. This is an exact quote from the directions. "Grab the shock bodies with your hands or use the spanner wrenches and turn the shock body counter clock wise to raise and clock wise to lower until desired ride heighth is achieved. So if i'm reading correctly the spring perches are not to be moved, and the whole lowering process is to be done by the threaded body being screwed into the lower coller, thus leaving the whole length of shock travel correct. When I was doing this the dust covers were being twisted as well and it seamed like I was turning it forever and not getting anywhere; so am I just supposed to move the dust covers as I go to keep them from tearing, and also how do you guys make your changes in even increments; by making markes every certain amount of distance.

If the rubber dust boot is becoming twisted, then the top is most likely caught in between the washer and the piston rod. Try and slide the top of the dust boot down a little bit, so that its not caught in there anymore. If you have to, remove the coilover and the lower mount, spring perches and spring to get at the dust boot.

You are adjusting height the correct way. Most people simply eyeball their adjustments. Make rough adjustments first, set the car down and see where adjustments need to be made. Its usually easier to start with the shocks at somewhat equal lengths (front pair equal, rear pair equal) so that fewer adjustments are needed.

Thanks for the pointer. And Heighth is adjusted by the threaded shock body screwing into the lower perch correct. And not by the spring perches.

yes even though you're gripping and turning the spring perch with the spanner wrench, the perch itself isn't moving on the shock body at all. it shoudl spin the entire shock body up and down inside the lower mount.
