Wheel Paint?
Got an Idea...
I have 18" HFP wheels but winter is coming and Civics don't do real well in New York Winters. I want to throw my stock wheels and tires back on for the winter salt. I hate the silver finish on NHBP paint so I want to paint my wheels either Staight black or gunmetal. Anybody ever done this? How did it come out? and what would be the best paint to use? I have some painting experience and a gun to shoot the paint with, but have never painted wheels before. I figure it should be the same process as painting a car because the factory wheels are painted and I'll just scuff them up and paint over them.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Do a good bit of scuffing/sanding then lay down some primer. dupli color makes wheel paint that works pretty damn good and the gunmetal has a nice flake finish to it. follow up with a bit of clear. if you take your time you'll end up with some good looking wheels that'll last a while

Went to duplicolors site and couldn't find any paints specific to wheels. I looked at all the types and non mentioned wheel paint. Which paint were you talking about?
I think a couple that they make will work, but not sure which one you meant.
Thanks

i would powdercoat rather paint, more durable and will last longer
any machine shop should be able to sandblast your rims and then powdercoat with no issues saving you the hassle of u doing it yourself

my thoughts exactly. Powdercoating looks really good and is extremely durable compared to standard and/or industrial paints.

i used the standard gunmetal rim paint from Auto Zone. The only problems i've had is a little rough places where i didn't use enough clear coat. Use 1 can of clear coat per wheel and it should look good. I always get people asking me where i got my "new rims."
