how to read a torque wrench??

Default how to read a torque wrench??

yes i'm stupid

i don't know how to read a dam torque wrench.

i just got one last night and was wondering how to read it?? i've read the instructions but it didn't help.

Example taken from HONDA service manuel 24N.M (17lbt.ft) if i remember it right.

my torque wrench has INCH-POUND AND NEWTON-METER. also a pic would help 2

the 24 N.M is 24 Newton Meters, so you can use that measurement wthout a problem.

12 inch-lbs = 1 ft-lb

So, 17 ft-lbs = 204 in-lbs

When you adjust the torque wrench (by twisting the handle) these measurements should be equal. In other words, 24 N-M = 204 in-lb.

When tightening the bolt, you apply pressure on the torque wrench until you feel a solid click, then you stop.

thanks floyd.

yeah that's what i did, i used N.M but my torque wrench only go up to 23.95 N.M or if i twist a setting higher it would be over 24 N.M

i think my wrench is -4%

You may need another torque wrench with a higher capacity to do things like wheel lug nuts (80 ft-lbs or 960 in-lbs )
