Checkerplate armrests..?

Checkerplate armrests..?

My civic's armrests are cracking, i can feel it when i rest my arm on them. I am thinking of cutting out a checkerplate section and glueing it onto the top to reinforce them. Has anybody done this, and or have pictures of it being done? What are your thoughts about it?

yeah i did it but it came out bad so redid it in artic camo, then redid it in gray vinyl

Ahh, yes i would love to, unfortunately i dont have much funds at the moment. Tho the checkerplate cover should add a bit of individuality to my car?
