Default About to buy a motor, need help asap on your thoughts. Thank you!

I am about to buy a 1995 GSR motor to put in a car for next year. The seller explained that it needed new piston rings, and today he explained that he took off the valve cover and that one of the valve springs were missing, and that the spring lock was missing, and that the valve may be in the combustion chamber. However the retainer was in the bed of his truck he uses to carry them etc. What damage should I be looking for, and also what could have happened? I want to make sure theres nothing detrimental to the motor that could have occurred since this find.

Yeah, I'd definitely want him to take the head off, then you can check the chambers..

If the chambers got messed up from w/e, you'd be in for more then you want,
Best thing to do is getting the engine apart, and checking for actual damage,
Don't make any assumptions, because if it was damaged, it would be bad.

The combustion chambers can be fixed also, but they have to be filled in, then grind/shaped back to form,
So it would be much easier finding a replacement head.

But if the engine has a very low price, then it might not be that bad just to have the block.

Yea, Im most likely going to pass because I wasn't looking forward to dumping a lot of cash in this project, mileage wasnt too high on the motor )around 130k, so replacing gaskets/seals/the bad piston rings wasn't a big worry. But he was honest and told me about his findings today. Somethings are just too good to be true and theres never too many deals out there for the honest guys. I dont deal with any stolen garbage so this was a good bang for the buck for a used motor, until he looked under the valve cover and saw what was missing. I already have a GSR head I bought from a buddy of mine, was going to do an LS vtec motor as a next year project but found a complete gsr for cheap...but didn't expect that much of a problem with it. Thanks your suggestion is what a few of my buddies said, it may not be 100% bad, but its a big chance, and coming from someone who pours most of their weekly paychecks into bills..not a risk I can even attempt to take as it might send me into the poor house trying to fix the motor.

wow 130k on a 95 gsr motor and it seems to me like it already has problems, because i have a 95 gsr and i have about 120k on mine i mean ive had problems with it but what car doesnt have problems and if the person isnt asking a good price and it has all that stuff wrong i wouldnt go for it personally i think ur better off going with a h22 swap by the way what kind of car is it going to go in , or you could buy it and put work into it and have a bad *** car and whatever the price is im shure you could find another gsr motor trust me its not that hard to find them around my way and it seems liek so much work and if ur gonna spend more money fixing then just having dont do it
