Default Flickering lights

I just bought a '94 EX coupe, and I've noticed when I press the brake pedal at night, the headlights, dash lights, climate backlight, everything flickers for an instant, then goes back to normal. It's only when I first press the pedal. If I hold the pedal, everything's fine, except for that half a second where everything goes out. Is this a common problem? I'm not used to these cars. I've got all my experience in Accords/Preludes

That started to happen to me as well. I just changed the Alternator and made my battery grounds nice and tight...never had the problem again

I think my problem was my negative battery cable. It was fairly loose (loose enough to pop off on its own later on)
