Any Colorado guy's here?...
I'm just wondering if there are any tracks in Colorado that still exist? Most of the tracks that I knew of here have shut down due to either city ordances, or residential expansion. (
). Of course there is always the autocross in the coor's feild parking lot, but I'm not a huge fan of cones.
I really want to further build my CRX up for track duty, but I don't see much point unless there is a local track that I can actually go too.
Thanks
Bryson

Second Creek is gone forever, because some dumbass decided to build houses next to the airport, landfill, arsenal, and two race tracks, then cry about noise from the race tracks. That was a sad day for property rights in this state.
Mead was shut down, but there is word (unconfirmed) that it may reopen with some repaving. There's still opposition from the neighbors of that area, but they're idiots because it's right next to I-25, so it's never going to be quiet.
PPIR was also shut down, but there was a story about it in the Denver Post just the other day... it was sold again, this time to someone that wants to open it back up under a country club business model.
PMI (aka Pueblo) is still open, but will require licensing for people who want to drive there in 2007
La Junta is open.
There are several efforts to build new tracks, but I'll believe it when someone actually secures funding. We've heard about CAMA getting something together in Byers (after all their set-backs), some "country club" tracks in Agate and Genoa, a big-time professional NASCAR track in the Denver area, and a rumor about Honda having interest in building a test track up near Greeley. We've heard a lot of grand plans, but the only action we've seen so far is CAMA raising money, only to lose $20k of it on a land deposit. The common problem with all of these plans seems to be that they would be extravagant multi-million dollar facilities, and they can't come up with the money to do it. So, at this point, I'd have a lot more confidence in a group of racers saying "enough of this crap", and just buying a simple piece of land and putting some asphalt on it.

Oh hey weston, didn't know you were on here.
. You know some of my freinds (Servion, Awddsm) and I actually met you at the second creek HAI meet. But anyways, I lOVED second creek and was pretty pissed to find out that it was never going to be reopened.
I Just moved up to Loveland CO, so second creek was really the closest track to me. I'm hoping that I can find at least one track too race on, because I really want to go this route with my CRX.

The NASA RM forum is down at the moment, so here's a thread over on one of the local "racer" boards: http://forums.coloradoracing.n...02620 (go about half way down to see someone quote the statement from PMI)

Mead is pretty close to Loveland. It's right off of I-25 (exit #245, iirc), just one exit North of the Highway 66 exit. Hopefully it opens back up... It sure was nice to have a track close by when I lived in Longmont, and it is still only 25 miles from me in Lafayette.

Hrmm, I'll have to go over there and check it out. I really do hope they open back up. :

I remember reading somewhere on HAI that they were planning on building a track ~80 Miles west of I25/70, apparently Bandimere has their name smeared in it. Perhaps just a rumor but I hope not.
