Default did compression test (with oil and without oil)

1995 GSR w/ 90k miles

1st compression test without oil being added to the cylinders.

cyl 1- 175
cyl 2- 160
cyl 3- 160
cyl 4- 165

2nd compression test with a cap of oil added to the cylinders.

cyl 1- 190
cyl 2- 185
cyl 3- 195
cyl 4- 190

any good?

question: after the oil being added to the cylinder and starting the car up is it supose to smoke out the exhaust and smell like oil is burning?

tha'ts normal number for a B18C. the number sometime is not too important but how close they're from one another. Compression shouldn't be more than +-20psi different from one cyl to the other. It look like your rings may need to be replace soon. Ohh yeah, do a leak down test that will deffinately tell you more about how healthy your motor is than a Compression TEST.

ok, but which numbers do i look at? the 1st compression test i did or the 2nd one?

and how long will my 2nd compression test numbers last?

ehh im getting paranoid i dont feel like dropping $2000 changing my rings, all seals, head gasket, and new rod bearings....might as well change all that since im riping my motor apart.

You would pay attention to the 1st ones. Adding oil is just showing approximately how much is getting blown past your rings. in the 170s still isnt too bad and your numbers are all pretty close together.

I wouldnt worry about rebuilding just yet. Wait til they are less than 150, or maybe its 140 to rebuild. Unless you are going for performance.
