b18c1 vs b18c5
Heard the dimensions, stroke, length all same. But the rods had a 'R' stamped on it (maybe its structurally stronger) and the C5 crankshaft are supposelly heavier than C1 and it is suppose to be more better engine balancing done on the C5.
I may be wrong though, so wait for more feedbacks from fellow H-T members..

B18C5 uses ligher, stronger and balanced internals on the bottom end, and a "ported-and-polished" version of the B16 head, with stronger internals.
Its also hand-assembled.

Not all of these posts are accurate.
type r has a heavier crank, same stroke as gsr.
it has similar rods, but they are all matched in weight (balanced if you will) and has different rod bolts and torque.
pistons have moly coated skirts, as well as more dome and almost a full point more compression then gsr's.
cylinder head is an entirely different casting as well as intake manifolds.
the type R head is a pr3 taken from a b16a, then gets different cams, intake valves, valve springs, different valve job specs, mild bowl work and that it.

I'm pretty sure the block casting is identical to the gsr's. Never noticed any difference. I have a customers brand new type r head in the box here, maybe I will snap a few pics of what is done to the head to clear up any confusion.

Same casting and walls. The block itself is no different.

ok so if i get a type r head and slap it on my gsr block will that in any way hurt my motor being that the crank is heavier ,rods are different and a bit stronger and torque specs are different?
no, its not going to hurt your engine at all. the compression will be lower though, the combustion chamber on the type r head has more volume. stock bottom end gsr engine is very strong, they just took the c5 a step further with the focus being high rpm durability.

my friend has a type-r head on a gsr block. he has hondata s300 also and he got somewhere around 180whp and 200hp to the crank......

o, ok thanks i just wanted ta make sure the type r head wouldn't hurt my motor(dont want to blow another one) cause i have a jdm b18c motor with p30 pistions and i was thinking about getting an itr head with skunk2 stage one cams or should i just keep the itr cams?
