i am going to overlay my 89 integra lip. its plastic. i ordered 4 yards of 2x2 3k carbon fiber off ebay, just not sure what to use for resin.
i will be doing this inside my basement, it will be well ventilated at the time, but here in boston the weather conditions arent so great. id say its inbetween 50-60 degrees in my basement. i dont want to have it sitting and curing for 2 weeks. a day or two would be fine. i need a nice clear durable resin and harndet. any info would be appreciated

Thats a tough one because you want UV protection and toughness. In any case it's going to get sandblasted. Poly will be relatively brittle, cheap and UV resistant. Epoxy will be more expensive and harder but not after the sun works on it for a few months. You could clear coat paint the epoxy part but then paint isn't going to hold up forever either getting hit with tiny rocks and such. Also it has to be compatible with the plastic lip. Do you have any epoxy and poly you could test to see what happens? You'll probably be fine with either but sometimes polyester reacts weird with plastic. You can get fast curing epoxy and change the catalyst level to control cure rate but I think you will need to at least stay about 65f for the part to cure in a good time. In my opinion poly is much easier to work with when it comes to overlays. You could even use poly and then take it to one of those clear bra shops and have them cover it for the ultimate in chip prevention. Just my ideas on the topic.

lol, i was looking for this as a private message, i dident realize i had made it a thread. anyways, ill call faberglasssupply.com tomarrow to place my order. i plan on getting 1 gallong of s249a, 1 qt of mekp and 2 2oz jar of black pigment. not sure on how much pigment ill actuall need, it says its concentrated.
Not much at all, say a teaspoon of pigment for 12 oz of resin. That sort of a range for black pigment with this resin. When you pour a cup of that resin it looks a bit green but once on the part its pretty clear. Now if you were trying to tint this resin white you would need quite a bit more than a teaspoon.
