'05 vs. '06
Hey eveybody... My current plan is to buy an S2000 in the spring. Right now I'm trying to decide on the year that I want to get. Either an '05 or an '06. I don't know a lot about them, but from what I see the '06 has little to no aftermarket. I am planning to boost, either Comptech SC or Full-Race TC, but that's a question for another time. Thanks in advance.
I feel that my income will allow an S2000 in the budget. I know an '05 will go for around $20k-$25k and the '06 is like $35k new. Idealy I'd want an '05, but sometimes I think to myself... I want something new and un-molested.
cheaper and more practical to buy used in really good condition. car depreciates 3k right out of lot anyways. plus i don't like the 06 seats nor the drive by wire nor the VSA. 05 is a great car!!!
I wasn't to thrilled about the Drive-by-Wire either. I blame it for the lack of an aftermarket. What's VSA?
I've been looking around for an '05, but I've been comming up short. I want GP White with black interior or Formula Red with black interior. I've found some but all with tan interiors and everyone seems to be asking about $8k more than its worth.

You have a lot of basic reseach needs to be done if you don't even know what VSA is.

Sorry, I haven't studied up on my acronyms. Besides, that's why I'm here asking questions. Thanks for not helping.

agreed. the older the s2k the more "raw" sports car it is.

If you're planning to boost, get an 05. Why spend money on a brand new car and then spend even more money making it faster. My suggestion is to be patient and look for a clean 05 that is in good condition and go from there. I have seen plenty of 05's on autotrader in the mid 20's. Also check the classified section on cars for sale here on honda-tech. Hope this helps.
Get an 05 since you may get the comptech sc, there is currently no sc kit available for 06+ s2k's because of the dbw. Also the ecu is very different compared to the 00-05 s2k's so just save yourself the headache and some money, get an 05
