Default major oil problems in my gsr motor!!! a little advise on what to do????

My gsr motor in finally in. But when i started it, it left a huge puff of smoke, I thought it was just cleaning out all the crap in the motor. But after a little drive time, it was still smoking. SO I just thought there was too much oil in it. There was a little too much oil, so I thought I would just let the car burn the little extra up. But after a long drive, the whole underneath on the drivers side car is dripping with oil. And my dipstick is dry. HOLY ****!!!!!
Im not sure if the *** whole sold me my motor didn't put some gaskets in, or what. oil plug is in good, filter was just changed.
But where would the leaking come from? ANd why would my tailpipe be smoking soo much too??
Any ideas would be nice. I am thinking about taking the oil pan off, and looking there to start, but If i find the leak, what about the clouds of smoke?
Hit my up with some ideas!!! thanx

man, I hope not. That would be a pain in the *** to fix. I have never ripped a motor apart before. That would be something new for me, im not really sure how to do that, Is it hard? I would learn how, but it would be different for me. It wouldn;t be expensinve either, right?

If it was rings then there wouldn't be oil on the outside of the motor. Head gasket is usually related to coolant problems. If oil is on the outside of the motor I would say it could be one or more of the following problems:

(1) Pan gasket
(2) Valve cover gasket
(3) Maybe drain holes in the head are plugged and thus the headis overflowing with oil and it leaks out of valve gasket / through valve seals.
(4) Seals (crank/cam et cetera)

If it is blowing smoke is it blue or white?]

White = coolant issues (head gasket)
Blue = Oil issues (valve seals or worn rings)

Just my thoughts...

Aaron.

Place some cardboard under your car, jack it up, turn it on and try to see from where the oil is leaking.

It's probably smoking from all that oil hitting the exhaust. Find your leak first.

Ill take a look, but if its dripping oil on the exhaust manifold, why would it be smoking white smoke out the tai pipe?? It would be smoking up front, becasue its burning the oil up front.
But hopfully its something easy.
I would like some adives: would it be a good idea to get a rebuilt kit? The motor supposely has 60,000 miles, but clutch is junk, so the motor is beat. I was thinking about redoing the motor, but is that expensinve? How easy or hard is it to do this? Is there anyone in my area that could help me out with this??
Let me know. Thanx guys

well. SO far I just see oil coming from the drivers side of the oil pan. So im going to get a new gasket for the oil pan. Hopfully that works. Then im going to work on the white smoke coming from the car.

*******ok. here is a good question for everyone. so far, my motor has had a bugus distributor, wrong shiftlinkage, and bad axles. and a lot of other things here and there. Would it be possible that he put a different dip stick in the motor?? SO it leaks and smokes so much becasue i keep adding oil according to the wrong dipstick?? If anyone could take measurements from their gsr motor's dip stick, that would be nice. Or if someone has a spare gsr dip stick, that would also be a big help. I thought about this last night. And that would be awesom if this is all thats wrong with the motor.
Any advice would be nice. Thanx in advace.

Oil filter was just changed, but have you double checked it for tightness just in case?

hold on a sec....u said u just changed the oil, and it started doing this? Well do this make sure that the old "O-Ring" that's around the treaded part of the oil filter came out on the old filter when u changed it...if you didn't, and the old "O-Ring" stayed on the oil filter area, and you just screw the new filter on where the old "O-Ring" was...ur gonna have a big leak...and a big smoke job...

check...my friend made this mistake on his NEON, since he tightned the **** out of the old oil filter..so the gasket remained...and when he went to start it..oil everywhere under the car...and mad smoke..

good luck

Yeah. I checked. There is no oil leaking around from the filter. ANd I really didn't just change the oil, I just put some oil in the motor, and put a filter on. becasue its my new swap. SO its the first time I put oil in it. But again, the smoke shouldn't be coming just out of the tail pipe, just smoking where the oil is burning on the exhaust. The motor doesn't smoke much when is ran for a while, but thats becasue the dipstick says there is hardly any oil left. But maybe it is the wrong dip stick??? Im still hoping that its the wrong dip stick. I really hope its nothing internal.
but thanx for the advice. The filter ring would of been an easy fix too.

just make sure you do a compression test before you open anything up. I heard those engines should get about 200psi's...?

I was also thinking, I bet I washed out the rings. When I had the bad distributor on my car, I was turning it over, adding lots of fuel, so I bet I washed out the rings. So I guess its best that I just rebuild the motor. Or sell my motor, and buy a different motor.

No. trust me, the oil filter is fine. It doesn't leak oil. It leaks around the oil pan. SO that means that gasket os bad, but its still not the reason why is blows smoke. The piston rings are washed out, so its going to burn oil bad. Im just going to rebuild the motor.
Im looking to see if anyone sells a rebuild kit for my 1995 b18c1 motor. If anyone does, let me know ASAP. (tell me price, what comes with it, ect.)

Who sold you the engine? Can you get a refund or is it one of those deals where you have to go beat the guy up.

have you called that poop head up and confronted him? I'm curious as to what scammer rip artists are made of. You seem to be a real good sport about his whole thing, considering.
