Y Tranny Tranny Bugs
Hey guys,
i have this fresh complete swap...built engine and gearspeed built tranny (all B16)....now the thing is i wanna summerize in points about my tranny bugs after mentioning my tranny/drivetrain setup:
1- S4C built tranny with Quaife LSD and coated syncros
2- Exedy Twin plate setup with new pilot and release bearing
3- new master slave, new clutch lines and new clutch booster
4- new oem intermediate shaft and new axles
remember why all these new parts this is a complete fresh swap!
bugs (fresh built engine aint cranked yet still doing a some fitements around the engine):
* 1-5 gears all engage fine except the R! is it because the tranny isnt broken in yet? i heard the tranny selector has to be broken in to select smoothly! R does selec if i be kinda harsh on pulling it in
* after fitting the clutch lines up to the firewall and bleeded the thing...i found out that when i press on my clutch the clutch disengages (like it should be) when i rotate the crank and i can notice my axles dont rotate, BUT when i release the clutch pedal and the shifter on netural and turn the crank the axle rotats
well it shouldnt rotate when the shifter on netural! what could be wrong?
please dont ask why i changed these parts i have my own reasons and give me hints of what i could do fix these bugs!

after some PMs i realised that the axles do move on netural! but still thinking abou tthe R problem i have and YEA i dont have any MTF fluid in yet since i didnt start the engine yet!
i did check these before posting and it does with some enormous (sp?) effort! do u think because i didnt break in the tranny yet and didnt put tranny fluid in its causing this?
and again i didnt crank the engine yet thats why the tranny has no fluid!

I think that you're paranoid. Did gearspeed build this? If so, Gearspeed guys know what they're doing. it's prob cause the engine is running and it's out of fluid. I wouldn't force anything. That's how forks get bent.
i know gearspeed is really good and i didnt say anything about their work....i just had to check since i installed my twin clutch and had to check if i installed the clutch correctly or not by doing a crank rotation to see the axles, so i was forced to try it both while putting it in gears and with out gears selected ans at the same time to check the selection of it since i put a new b shift linkage since this is new swap....by the way isnt bent forks are caused by miss shifting at high rpms? i never what i was doing could hurt my tranny and do you think i already damaged something?
*note: this fresh head/block/tranny that was built for boost .....i didnt crank the engine yet! i didnt finish the swap yet!

I think it's either that your new synchro rings are binding the gears or the reverse synchro ring flipped around with one of the other synchro rings on the mainshaft.
It may be more complicated fix than just checking for proper synchro placement depending on which shaft the bind is in. You may have to replace a distance collar and a synchro hub to resolve the issue.

why would i have to worry about replacing these parts? this is a fresh built tranny! i dont have to worry about rings have been installed wrongly since this was built by gearspeed!
í'll let u guys know when all fluids are in and get the engine cranked!

huy guys i was told by gearspeed to try my stock shifter since they said most aftermarket short shifters have a bad habbit of changing the gear selection angle, which is probably why i cant select R right now! its does make sense now, but anyway i will try it and let u guys know
As I told you before...leave the thing alone until you are ready to actually use it. There is nothing wrong with bench test shifting with low torque but you are forcing a dry transmission into gear and from what you have said...forcefully by your mechanic....
LEAVE IT ALONE!

uhhh..no....not that we are perfect...but, not gonna happen boss..we are not joe shmoes garage that only assembles 1 honda tranny a year. Our current builder has built 1,054 transmissions as of today.

by the way i did take the buddy club shifter out and put my stock D series shifter back in....i didnt even try it yet, so i have to wait until i get my engine all together and cranked with all fluids in and let u guys know !
GearSpeedEF7 i do appreciate your advice here! thanks man!
