the previous owner of my car thought that since the pin that goes into the groove (on the tip) in the axle had been lost,, that maybe the best solution was to crimp the outer rim of the nut on to the axle....i grinded most of it away and got a punch in there.....is there any other way to get the nut off besides standing on the breaker bar or heating it up cuz heat is my next guess
Uhm...you know you are supposed to "dent" in the the axle nut, there isn't any key or anything that goes there...the previous own did it properly...anyways you just need to get a flat head or a chissle and just tap out the dent...if you can't get the nut off with and inpact gun or a breaker bar the next best way is to get out the dremel and angle grinder...use the dremel to cut of the outer edge of the axle nut the part where the dent is, this will ensure that if won't get hung up...try the impart/breaker bar again see if it loosened up, if not then its time to start cutting into the axle, don't worry the parts store will still take it back the replace the out anyways
make some cute straight into the axle kind of like you are cutting the threads off the out side of it go all arounf it and eventually you will be able to get the nut off...just had to do this the other day so believe me it works and it is the easiest if you can't get it off the standard way HTH

uh yeah, thats just the way its supposed to be. you dont use a cotter pin on the axle nut. youre supposed to "stake" it and unstake it when removing.
and its typically hard to remove. lots of ppl do have issues.

this would have been the first thing to do....
what i do is stick a small wrench in the vanes of the rotor so it locks the hub up. much better than trying to put a pry bar in between the wheel studs, which end up damaging the threads. no, it doesnt damage the rotor... then just get as big of a breaker bar possible (if im in the junkyard, i use a catback exhaust) to break it free. lately theyve come off like butter.

3/4 inch drive breaker bar, 1 1/4 inch socket. have someone hold break pedal down when car is running to maintain vacume, and jump on breaker bar. it will rip the dented part out and come off like butter

Use a 32 mm socket.

dude just use a flat head or chisle to bend the **** out than put a impact on it. if that dont work you can always heat the nut up and than hit it again with an impact.

Stop over and I'll blast it off for you, free of charge. Worth a try. Are 650lb impact only gave us an issue once, and we cut the nut off.

take it to a shop or somebody wid an impact wrench same ting happend to me but tell dem to put it back on at 80lbs den go back home and do wat u hav to do den tighten it rite after ur done. cuz you could jump on it all day dat sh#$ ain't gonna budge.
I personally have had trouble with this in the past, as many others have. An impact is really the only way to go, you'll end up breaking your wrench before you get it off with simple hand tools. Been there done that. Just find a good electric impact so you don't have to worry about air, and go from there.

why would anyone need to hold down the brake?, just put the wheel on without a centercap and take the nut off with the car on the ground. even my cheap electric impact gun will get the axle nut off. just get a breaker bar and stand on it if you cant get the nut off

Thats a big fugin wrench, but the breaker bar with a cheater bar wil most likely do the trick and if that doesnt work...................GET A BIGGER HAMMER
. But if it does come down to it get a huge cheater bar and jump up and down on it.

you have to hold down the break sometimes because the nut is on so tight that you end up just spining the tire even with the car on the ground.. happend to me. i tried using a jack under the breaker bar and it did this.. then i got in the car and my friend used a breaker bar and an extention and it came loose.. i wish i had an impact gun for it.

its easier just to put a screwdriver in the center of the rotor and have it jam with the caliper

ohh the axle nut, k.. here's how i did mine, and many others.. first, spray pb blaster/liquad wrench, let the car sit for 6-8 hours, goto work, whatever spray it again, then park the car for the night, spray it again...
get you're breaker bar, and socket, put it so you're standing on the break bar, NOT PUSHING WITH YOU'RE HANDS. Use you're body weight and then bounce on the bar.
works all the time, and any honda axle nut i work on has been sitting in new england weather
