I am swapping out my sohc for an ex setup and when it starts it revs at about 2000rpm then stabilizes at about 800, and timing seems to be too far off to correct, this is my first engine swap so in need of some experienced help thnx

 

When you start a car in the morning it revs high to warm itself up then goes down to its idle. And if the timing is far off then the car wouldnt start, did you touch the timing?
