New splitter...we'll see if it works
For those who've been watching the splitter build. Here's the finished product. It will be awhile before I can do some real track testing. However, I must say, it's gone together pretty well without any major screwups so far.
Concerns:
Will the plywood hold up to the pressure?
Does it increase handling without giving up too much top speed?

Here's the splitter on the car this morning - sorry for crappy pics at work, I couldn't find my USB for the good camera

enjoy.

How come you shaved the "Integra" name??

good catch.
The clear pictures are of a non-oem replacement bumper I bought from someone here on HT. It gave me a template to work with that was okay to screw up if I made a mistake. My car has always had the INTEGRA painted dark red.

I never understood how these worked, but I bought some & got the rivet gun going...they are SWEEEEEET. It takes about 45 seconds to install the splitter.
There is a cutout in the undertray that allows me to still jack the car up if necessary without removal.

Yea - there's an undertray too. That's what's doing the work. The whole thing only weighs about 5lbs.

not bad jeff.. why not use aluminum on the undertray too though?
i've been trying to figure out a way to make something like this as well....

A tip from my cage builder was to use MDF (which my hardware store didn't have a big enough sheet
)...
WHEN (not if) it gets destroyed, it is cheaper to replace and it shouldn't harm anything on the track as much as shards of plastic, carbon fiber, aluminum, steel, etc. I hope the wood will just break into pieces.
I already have a template and 1 more undertray cut & drilled ready to bolt on. ($20)

fwiw - I do need to go to the hardware store & get a couple hangers for the front to provide additional support to the lip. There just isn't any room for additional fastners on the front lip of the original bumper that I'm comfy with.
I just took another pic in the daylight:

Looks great Jeff... I was thinking about cooking up something like that myself. Maybe this will give me a little more encouragement.
Interesting. Is there any reason why you couldn't use fiberglass? I think we could mold you a very nice, light weight splitter. Maybe we can score a sheet of carbon fiber.
