ok so if you guys have read Ithinkyourlost recent thred his car basicly hates him and doesnt like to be fixed lol. most recent problem was the speedsensor took a **** after i did the oil pan gasket on it . the next night the lights start dimming and the abs light comes on. i have see this a few times at work with some of the acura's as far a low battery or failing alternator.

so he towed the pos to the shop i hooked up our tester battery had 173 CCA's starter test was good the the alternator was pushing like 13.75 volts at idle. WTF?. so first thing i checked was the fues's and the Alternator/Speed sensor 7.5 fuse is blown. i figured well the alternator is pretty much well done and poped the fuse.

ok new alternator from a discunt auto parts cuz acura never keeps **** like this in stock, put it in drove it around nothing no dimming lights or nething. ok cars fixed... yea right. calls me later on the lights are dimming again speedo not working cel is on and srs and abs lights are on. is it possible the battery may have drained so low the new alternator can not charge it nemore, bad alternator again or possible electrical problem?

this car has been a nightmare ever since it rolled into the shop the first time for a broken clutch . 2 motors a battery ,alternator, skunk2 camber kit fell apart, igniter, coil. oil pan gasket , window falling off track, and a bunch of crap i can not remember. im sorry this is so long but i had to expain it this way. help is apprecaited and no he doesnt want to get rid of it unless something else majorly goes wrong with it. thanx

 

i think it is time for a new car.lol.
sounds like there might be a short somewhere causing a major prolem with alll the sensors.it may be a dash wiring problem.was the car ever in a flood or major accident?that may be the being of the troubles.good luck on finding the issue.i would do a carfax and find out the history of the car.

 

update: car is back dead battery. charged up the battery starts right up and runs. checked the alternator ( just replaced) no voltage. god i hate using aftermarket parts.

 

well ****. that car wants me to die, i bet one day ill be driving on 417 and a wheel will fall off or something. yea man it sucks, problem after problem.

Um no voltage on alternator? is it not getting any power somehow?

 

update # 2 so another new alternator and only 11.43 volts from the batteryand slowing decreasing . basicy meening the freaking alternator is not charging!. also why does the battery light not turn on anymore when your first turn the key? someone was telling me about a ELD or somehting in the fuse box ?

 

just have someone steal the car so i can get some insurance money, im game for that.

 

you have a short to ground. Check all your ground wires for corrosion/cracks. the alternator could be sending the power right to the chassis ground, instead of the battery ground. thats why it runs when u boost it, and then it dies. Its only running off the juice u give it. Check for continuity front the negative terminal on the battery, to the ground wire on the alternator. No continuity = no charge

 

it was the damn speed sensor!!!!!!!! it kept poping the alternator-sp sensor fuse when the speed sensor is plugged in. i unplugeed the sensor and drove the car 3 times time about 20 minutes each time. i pulled over and checked the voltage 14 volts everytime. hopefuly this thing wont be back in my bay for a long long time. thanx 4 the help guys

 

wrong! it was the speed sensor but now its messing up agian, screw this car and its mystery problems.

 

ill drive from ct to pick up the motor whenever you give up and want to part it out.

pos car i hope a honda alternater will fix the problem since the voltage regualotr int he aftermarket one keeps bugin the f*ck out and poping the fuse

 

 

FINALY FIXED IT!! so theres for things that run on the circuit for the alternater. IAB,secondary o2 sensor,speed sensor, and of course alternater. i replaced the stuid discount auto parts one with a junkyard OEM honda one and while i was under the car i noticed that the o2 wire were getting pinched by the shift linkege! so i unplugged the seconday o2 and no problems 14.2 volts no popped fuses etc.
