Auto tranny: Can I fit any other generation tranny on a 98 V6 Auto?
Ok. I recently got a 98 Accord V6 auto with a blown tranny. I've been reading up on the 98-01 trannys and don't want to take the risk buying a used one of the same generation. I was wondering if it was possible to swap it out for any previous generation trannys with minor mods?
Cliffs: Can I fit 94-97 I4/V6 auto tranny on my 98 V6?

the 5th gen v6 tranny are different from 6th gen and the engine. even though the 7th gen has a J30A4 i heard that J30A1 and J30A4 tranny won't fit because of the tranny having different mounts.
5th gen C27 V6
6th gen J30A1 V6
Maybe a TL/CL Tranny may work but i'm not sure

the only 2 choices are
1. 6 spd swap (got it's own set of problems)
2. Dr Evil rebuild.
5at will not fit since
a. ECU will not interface with TCU for 5AT
b. trans is different size with different mounting points.
A CL type S powertrain will swap in though.....
