Default DX EK hatchback tranny.....

OK, so after realizing before I purchaced my 1996 DX hatch how slow it was, (much much slower than my 1990 SI) I guess I failed to realize how much slower, lol I have a feeling its all in the gearing? Talk about rediculous, I mean seriously, I can do 40mph in 1st, 70mph in 2nd and 107mph in third. WOW... I mean, I cant take off from a stop sign without the damn thing bogging, or at least, comparatively speaking to any honda i have ever owned.. Are these cars supposed to be royal turds? I wasnt expecting much, but dang.
I was thinking about doing an EX tranny swap because I have heard they are much better ratio and I cant stand these long gears, I can wrap it all the way out and shift as fast as possible and it still feels like it bogs.
EX tranny and a Y8 head and intake manifold, will that solve my issues? I am not dissapointed in the car by any means, I just didnt realize how pathetically sluggish it would turn out to be

Yes, go for the mini-me. Y8 trans, head and vtec addition will prove very nice.

I'm doing the trans swap here soon as well. I've heard great things.

EX trannys rock. Just the tranny would make a big difference. but VTEC rocks just as much , lol.

this is what i did to my dx engine
up a d16y8 head and a d16y8 IM and using P28
then i notice the low end rev faster and high end has vtec (it's not noticeable like the B series engine but still better than the old engine)

then i got a d16y8 tranny and that HELPED a lot and i like the close ratio on the tranny
i believe 1st, 2nd gear is the same, the rest of them is shorter, and the main reason y you'll feel a difference is because of the final drive, dx hatch has 3.9x and d16y8 has 4.25.
