did you bother reading that it was optional as in it was not standard?

No hatches had ABS as this quote says

Braking is handled via front discs/rear drums on all models except the EX and Si models where four-wheel discs are standard. Strangely, anti-lock braking was available only on the LX sedan and the EX coupe. EX sedans carried it as standard equipment. Both setups stop the Civic quickly. We suspect the big difference would be that the disc/disc combo will be more resistant to fade under repeated hard use.

So just to get this straight, if you have a 92-93 hatchback (any model), 99.9% of the time you will NOT have ABS, right?

correct...(only si models ever had abs) i dont even thing 92-93 had the abs option. but i know that the 94-95 did have the option.

kinda like the rear stereo system. power windows, power locks etc...

basically look at this way. if every option that was available to the 94-95 models at that time. what is the difference between a 92-93 model si? nothing if you had a '92 si and you wanted abs that the '94 - 95 finally were made for then you had to add it later on.

so certain parts were not available to the 92-93 models when they first came out... ofcoarse 10+ years now yea parts will be added later and are interchangible which causes majority of the confusion now as to what year had what and which didnt...

This is wrong. The Si had optional ABS. The FSM even documents it as so and there's a VIN digit indicating "Si w/ ABS".

92-93 had black molded plastic for the bumper cutouts where as 94+ were body color .

Hey cxShoe, I'm going to be down in SD soon - I'm looking to either pick up or borrow a shoe while I'm there. Would you be able to hook me up?

Yep. However, this started in ALL 94 cars across the board - regardless of manufacturer. FMVSS requirements.

In the US, ABS was only offered as an option on the 1994 EH3 Si hatchback - in 1994, there was the regular EH3 Si, and there was the EH3 Si-ABS model. In 1995, the ABS option was not available for the Si, contrary to what many people believe.

No other hatchback models had ABS (optional or standard) until model year 2002.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Does anyone HAVE abs on there eg.. None of this hear say stuff. These 5th-gen Civics were equipped with ABS:

- '92-95 EX 4dr (all EX sedans had ABS standard)
- '94-95 EX-ABS 2dr (there was a non-ABS model as well)
- '94 Si-ABS 3dr (there was a non-ABS model as well)
- '94-95 LX-ABS 4dr (there was a non-ABS model as well)

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by cxSHOE &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">ive seen them majorily on '94 and '95 hatches.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You've never seen it on a '95 Si because it wasn't offered in that model year.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by oo3 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">So just to get this straight, if you have a 92-93 hatchback (any model), 99.9% of the time you will NOT have ABS, right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
If you have a '92-93 USDM hatchback in any trim, you are 100% guaranteed to not have ABS, because it was never offered in those model years.

1995 FSM shows Si w/ ABS as an available option AND w/ a digit in the VIN indicating so.

Yet another reason to own a 93.

Probably for the 1994 model year. The Honda parts catalog shows the Si-ABS as only existing in 1994.
