Default o2 sensor gone bad

hello i have a 99 civic si, i have been battling what i thought was an O2 sensor problem for the past 6 months, finally i broke down and took it to honda. they charged me 250 for a new o2 sensor 20 miles later the check engine light came back on, same P0133 code. i took it back and after waiting 4 hours the guy tells me i need a new ECM, and it would cost 700 with labor. he showed me a honda service bulletin explaining the problem. what are my options? should i buy a new one and replace it myself? should i send the old one to be rebuilt?
i appreciate all the help i can get
thanks
cameron

Your option is to stop ******* going to honda-dealer to repair your civic. Jesus, take it to a mom or pop shop man. It's not that hard to work on civics. Honda dealer wanted to charge me 900 for a clutch change. They can kiss my ***, cuz I change it my damn self for 150. Parts only.

Since you're a noob, you cant go into the classfieds just yet. Look on your ECM and look for a # (P72 for a GSR) and start calling junkyards in your area. If you have a friend that has the same car, borrow his and see if the code goes away, the problem might be something else.

Tell me what ECM # you have and i'll keep a lookout.

You might want to call him back and remind him that this is emissions related and see what he says. I believe the manufactures have to warranty emissions related equipment for 10 years.

See what he says to that. If there is a service bulletin then why is he not doing anything. Also ask him why did he replace the O2 if he knew about the bulletin

Infact talk to the service manager. At least get your money back for the O2. and find another dealership.
