Default LMA Comparison: B16,GSR,ITR

Today as i was upgrading my 2nd gen B16a lost motion assemblys to the newer
ITR lma's, i took a few photos of the comparisons between them, and the GSR lma's that came out of my 94 GSR swap. i noticed the older GSR lma has the same tapered shape as the b16a, but the same amount of pad area as the ITR. but w/o the tapered edge. i'm curious to know what year the gsr upgraded to the itr style.

from left to right: 94b16a, 94gsr, 98itr

other than the gsr ones being worn out, no. but i didn't properly measure the spring pressure.

Wow, those ITR LMA's are expensive.

IIRC, when I priced them for my father's LSVTEC build, the going rate was something like $32/ea.?

Why not switch out to the Prelude LMA's with a .040 washer?

my local dealer wanted $48 each. so i ordered them for $34 each at acuraparts247.com I guess i went with the itr's being more of a convenience.
delivered to my door step, ready to go. i hate running around town, place to place, looking for ****. its getting old. but thats just me.

go with the prelude lmas and washers. honda switched to spring lma's for a reason, because they never fail.

i was bored this evening and noticed my pile of head parts and started going threw them for inventory lol...

anyway found the remains from 4 heads...this is what i noticed...[my lazy *** can take some pics if you would like?]

OBD1 SiRII head (94 if i remember right): has the narrow pointed LMA (like the 94 GSR pictured above... make noise and are EASY to push in...will be throwing those away now lol

99 Si B16A2 PR3: LMA look like the ITR ones?!?!

00 Si B16A2 PR3: guess what? yeah the same as the other head

99 USDM P72 head: look just like the "ITR" LMA's

all 3 sets of the "ITR lookin ones" seem to have the same tension but im just pushing on them with my fingers, so its not very scientific

You mean swapping LMA's? If your running higher lift cams then you should look into switching if you have the older style LMA's.
