ground wire issue?
this morning i try to start my car and it tried about 5 times to turn over and while it was trying to turn over there was smoke coming from under the hood and it starts finnaly start i open up my hood and my ground wire to my transmission is smoking and all the plastic around it got melted, lately it has had some troulbe starting but it has never smoked or took 5 times turns, its not even a complete turn its like it starts to turn over then it stops completely and all the power is gone then it does it again then stops completely and all the power is gone and so on... i had my battery relocated to the back and i think the ground wire to the trans is smaller then the one before? sorry for the long story, im thinking about just replacing with a wider guage and see what happens. any advice would be appreciated
Yep, The wire is too small. When replacing a wire, stay the same size or bigger.
A wire that is too small will heat up and melt the covering.
