Just ordered a new set of RE010's........WOOT!
Now I'll finally get my opportunity to see what all the hype is about with the OEM tires. For $78/each it was hard not to order a set.
I'm the second owner of my R which I bought 4 years ago with 35,000 miles at that time. Now my 97' is up to 102,000 miles and I am currently returning it to stock to run D-stock. I figured since I will need new daily driver tires come spring time, I mines well give the RE010's a shot since I never had the opportunity to drive on a set.
Anyone else buy one of these final sets from the Tirerack??

On the track you are better with 205 without a doubt IMO. These should be awesome for around town spirited driving since I have the millenia wheels to mount track/auto-x tires on.

re010's...there's a reason why honda/acura picked them as oem rubber. GREAT street tires. you might notice sharper handling with the 195's as well. being a street car, that's perfectly fine!
i'm sure you'll love them.

Those are awesome tires. I had mine when I bought my R brand new and loved them. They ran out very fast and I've been an Azenis-man ever since simply because the OEMs are so expensive and they last very little for daily driving like I do ..

Mine should last a while time wise. I now have a CRX HF to take all the grunt miles (To and from work driving) so the RE010's will be my fun tires for the street. I think I'm going to move my 1st gen Azenis that are wore down to about 4/32nds to the millenias until they are no good, then get some expensive Rubber on those wheels.

Not necessarily. Performance differences between tire models are virtually always much, MUCH greater than differences between tire widths.
For example, the Falken Azenis RT-615 is stickier than the RE010, not because it's 10 mm wider, but because of its design features (e.g. soft compound, large tread blocks, etc). It would still be stickier even if it were 10 mm narrower than the RE010.
So, it all depends on what tire you want, and what your priorities are. If you want the maximum cornering grip, then get the Azenis. If you want the most precise handling "feel", then get the RE010. Also, the RE010 last longer than the Azenis (typically 15-20K miles vs 10-12K), the RE010 are better in rain, and the Azenis is slightly cheaper. Your money, your call.
If you want more value (lower price and treadlife), then other tires like the Kumho Ecsta SPT are also worth considering. The SPT costs less ($46/tire after rebate for 205/50-15, $50/tire for 195/55-15) and is pretty good in dry conditions and excellent in rain, and lasts even longer (30-40K miles). For a more comprehensive description of various options available in summer tires, see this previous post.
And, of course, these are all indeed "summer tires" and will suck when used on snow or in frigid cold. If you need to drive in winter conditions, you can get a separate set of winter tires, or you can get all-season tires, which are a compromise - not as good in winter as winter tires, not as good the rest of the year as summer tires, but won't be as bad as the reverse.

Exactly what I'm going for. Right now with 205/50/15 Azenis on the car, my wife's 06' Mini Cooper S absolutely trumps the Type R in steering response and handling feel.

At least you have that choice. In the States, the AD05 isn't available at all, and the AD07 isn't available in sizes that fit the ITR.

Get a set of 205-50-15 V710's. You can't go wrong if you want to kick *** is DS without wasting the extra money on A6's (Hoosiers) that will cord in 2/3 the tread life. I don't know if you were racing R comps before you sold me your first Millenias, but I'd recommend it if you haven't. Just don't do the math on how much each run starts costing.
But yeah, that REO10's absolutely rule on the street. I'm not really convinced that the 615's are in fact stickier and if they are the B-stone's turn-in trumps the Azenis all day long.

No, they don't. I got 32K miles on the ones that came on my car when I bought it new. Granted, that's above average, but plenty of folks get 15-20K miles on them, which is pretty good. Compare that with the typical 10-12K for the Azenis, and they last a lot longer. (Maybe you're just thinking of the Azenis?)

ive got about 30k(they look like slicks, but no cords showing) on my Azenis 215s, rotating them around the car every oil change (3-4k miles). Most of the miles are street miles, with a couple of track days on them.
Around 24k miles on the RE010s, use was about the same as with the Azenis.
Azenis can rotate to any corner of the car. RE010 can only rotate front to back.
